Hi!

I'm looking for a scuba holiday for me and my girlfriend for this
October/November. I've been looking at Bonaire or the Maldives as
possible destinations, but would like to have more ideas.

We would like to go somewhere with good diving and sunny weather. We
are based in Europe, but don't mind travelling.

All ideas are welcome,

Scubadog

Australia's the Coral Sea is the best place for October/November.  But
it would have to be a charter since the Coral Sea is a good long steam
from either Cairns or Townesville.  The reefs out there barely touch the
surface but underwater, you will encounter some of the most beautiful
reefs your eyes can ever feast on, sort of like an expensive Madison
Avenue florists came there prior to your arrival and laid it all out in
the most incredible colors and the clarity and deep hue of this
ocean-blue water, so far from any pollution, is that one seldom
encounters.

This is sort of like what time-travel would be like, if you could
somehow borrow Mr. Welle's famous time machine and go back to an era
before the world was sullied and trashed.

Might want to come to the US and dive in the Florida Keys.  Water temp. should
still be in the low 80's with good vis. and plenty of things to see.  We should
be out of our rainy season by then and also out of hurricane season [which has
been non-existent so far this year here in Fla].

Red Sea/Egypt. Cheap, excellent diving, guarenteed good weather, and
lots of culture if you spend a few extra days in the country away from
the beach.

I don't find Egypt particularly cheap. I don't find much of the diving North
of Brothers "excellent" But I do find the country itself extremely
interesting and enjoyable.

For a "scuba holiday" I wouldn't visit Egypt unless I could do all the
diving South of Brothers.

Scubadog,

Both the SUBJECT and the cited excerpt above are just too good for
da Feeesh to pass up without taking a chomp on it.  Of course I
would only mention place *I* would go myself, in Oct/Nov.

For starters, you can go to Hell!  :-)  Been there twice this year
already.  But if you like cold weather, there's a Hell in Michigan.

I'll be spending a week on the Wind Dancer in Tobago in Oct.  GREAT
bargain price.  I think berths are still available.  Damn the
hurricane threats.

I also got a BARGAIN price to spend two weeks in Oct (actually only
10 days on the cruiseship itself) on the Princess Cruise.  This is a
one dive per island type of easy diving.  But you get to see Tahiti
(Papeete), dive Moorea, Tuamotu Atoll, Nuki Hiva, Marquesas, Rangiroa,
and see Tahaa, Bora Bora on the way back to Papeete.  You'll also
gain about 9 lbs (or 4 kilos if you want it sound less) on the food
on the cruiseship.  Been there, done that, in June.  That's how I
knew, but on a different (Samoa) itinerary though.

Then in Nov, I'll be on a cruise from Los Angeles that's a REALLY BIG
BARGAIN.  (Something like less than $100 per day), to ports of call
in San Diego, the Channel Island, Hacienda MX, and back to LA.  Cold
Water Wimps can probably find dives in San Diego and the Channel
Islands.

London (the one across the pond) will be my next stop in mid Nov. You'll
have to be a diehard Cold Water Wimp (with a frozen brain) to want to
there.  :-)  But it would be fun just to hear the Brits talk, carry an
umbrella all the time, and go like a mole all day from one place to
another in the 4-level subway (tube) in London.

I am still working on something for the 1st and/or last week of Nov.
So, I'll peek in this thread to get ideas.  :-)  Bi Egyot or the
Red Sea for me!  I don't wanna get killed by our "friendly fire" which
had killed more of our own and allies than the enemy.  ;-)
