We're sold.  Booking flights for mid-November to early December for
probably 10 days in PR and 10 days in Dominica.  Looks great, any
diving advice re outfitters, etc will be most appreciated.  thanks!

Dominica either Nature Island Dive in the South, or Dive Dominica just
outside of Roseau, both extremely good places to go to. Nature Island is
smaller with fewer folks woth you on dives, DDl is the largest dive
operation on Dominica, ifyou have a camera then go with NID. Remember that
you'll be divingin the Marine reserve and user fees are applied, $2US per
day or $20 for the week. Percentage goes towards the chamber they are buying
for the island.

As to PR, couldnt recommend anyone to dive with there as I've never been.

Safe trip and enjoy your stay in Dominica.

You mentioned if we have a camera, and that leads to another post I
want to make.  last year for Fiji I bought a cheap underwater camera
(not a disposable, but perhaps just as bad).  I shot 11 rolls of film
and was lucky to get 3 decent photos.  I really want a good underwater
camera and am willing to invest a decent sum to get there:  what is
recommended?  I'll consider digital or print.  And thanks for the info
about the dive shops, too.  All the online research has driven me
crazy.

I would highly recommend a Canon or Sony digital camera with the
underwater housings.  I have the Canon and have great pictures from our
trip to Dominica.  Mail me and I will send you a link.  I have also seen
great picts from the Sonys.

I tried emailing you but it didn't work.  Can you post the link here?

It's not the camera.

In Puerto Rico, on the west coast, try Divers Unlimited.  On the
southwestern coast in La Parguera try Parguera Divers, on the east coast go
to www.divepuertorico.com (Sea Ventures).

Let me now if you have more questions.
