Peter Hughes Star Dancer switches from Kimbe Bay to Rabual in the summer. I
have heard that Rabual is just for wrecks. Does anyone have any diving
experience in Rabual and can you tell me about the diving there?

It's mostly wrecks but some reefs.  I dived there in April 2003.  The
volcano was erupting every 7 to 9 minutes the whole week.  The wrecks that
are in the harbor have very low vis.  I thought the above-ground sites were
as interesting as those underwater, including the volcano itself and
Yamamoto's Bunker.

Friends of mine in Toowoomba, Australia who own and operate

Academy of Career Training

They have had a full-fledged dive operation but are now moving more into
dive and other types of training.  They do one big trip a year.  This year
it will be Palau, probably in April.  They don't have any trips planned to
Rabaul but could probably put you in touch with contacts or even plan the
trip for you.  They are long-time friends and absolutely reliable and
trustworthy, as well as customer-oriented.  When I went, I was land-based,
but a liveaboard could very well be a better option.
