I'll be in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico next week - anyone recommend good
sites/dive operators?

Also, I'm looking for a good website that contains customer reviews of
dive operators, dive sites, etc. around the world.  Anyone have
suggestions?

Thanks,
Dennis

I was happy with Amigos del Mar.  The diving is just so-so.  We did the arch
and the sandfalls and the surrounding pinnacles on the first dive day, but
no sand was falling.  The next, we paid extra to dive the 'across the bay'
trip to a couple sites off the 'corridor' and much preferred the first day's
sites as they were more varied and fishier.  Across the bay had more soft
corals but it was a bit boring and shallow with lots of surge and the viz
was lousy.  DM and shop owner were very friendly and partly made up for the
diving.

Cabo Pulmo is a two hour drive north, partly on a nasty dusty gravel road,
but much better diving in my opinion.  The promised 'coral reef' looked
pretty dead to me, though, and Cabo Pulmo Divers, our choice by default
since the other two dive ops (the two that were recommended to us) had
already left for their morning trips, was a bit lame.  They had us dive the
same spot twice, claiming that the viz at all the other sites was reportedly
terrible that day.  The particular spot was a single short and narrow
sand-surrounded reef which we followed from beginning to end.  Twice.  CPD
had no ice chest, but provided warm bottled water.  Divers helped push the
boat in from the sand then waded in and climbed aboard.  DM got cold halfway
through the first dive and bailed on us, skipping the second dive.
Potential tip stayed in my pocket.  Better viz and fish life than the Cabo
stuff, though it's a long drive back.

Our shore dive at Playa Chileno wasn't so hot as it was low tide and the viz
was lousy.  Apparently the bad weather the week prior had churned up the
water.  I bet the hurricane that was arriving the day we left didn't do
wonders for the viz either but we weren't there to notice.  But there's a
dive shop right on the beach to rent tanks which makes it an easier shore
dive than most.

Purportedly October is the favorite month for diving there so hopefully
you'll have better diving than we did last month.
