Has anyone been to the Flower Gardens?  I'm going next week and looking for
any advice, tips warnings.

Been there several times.  I hope your diving EAN, because you'll need
it.  If you dive on a rig, WATCH YOUR DEPTH, it's easy to over do it if
you're not paying attention.  I used a .5 mil shorty and was fine.  I've
always went on the MV Spree or MV Fling, the food wasn't five star but
there's plenty of it - lotsa carbs.

Enjoy

Oh, one other thing...  if Frances blows through Florida and into the
gulf, the trip will most likely be scrubbed and rescheduled.

Never been.  Tried 3 times, always scrubbed because of weather.  They
seem eager to cancel any time seas get over 4 feet.

Once I had the latter half of a trip scrubbed when weather abruptly
turned.  6-8' waves and 40 mph blowing rain is not fun.  It was the only
time I've felt a 110' boot twist 30 deg off the beam when it arrived on
top of a wave.  Surface radar looked like pea soup and we were still six
hours from port.  Scrubbing a trip to stay out of that is no problem.
