I may have the opportunity to travel to the Monterey bay area  ( might sound
like a strange question but I live in France )  and I was wondering what kind
of weather conditions I might expect around late April - As a photographer I am
also  interested in getting so information about visibilty and water
temperature.

Thanks for your input and advice

Spring time is highly variable, unfortunately.  Figure 0-40ft viz as likely.
Temp will be ~54 ranging down to high 40s in Carmel Bay (12-9C).  It generally
will be diveable, but between algae blooms and stirred up kelp debris the
water clarity can be all over the map.  We do not have the more reliable
conditions of the Channel Islands off Los Angeles.  If you take a boat, it's
likely that you wouldn't do worse than 20ft viz, so macro is always possible,
and macro is more prevalent here than wide angle anyhow.
