Any one know what the weather's like in Roatan in February?

Warm?

AFAIK, rainy season tends to coincide with the later part of hurricane season. You
may get rain in February, but you probably won't get lots and lots of rain. OTOH, in
most of the Caribbean the winter months can bring rough and windy conditions, even if
you don't get a lot of the rain. If you can wait 7 months and a day or two I can tell
you plenty about the weather for the 3rd week of January.

It is just great!
I have been twice to Roatan:  late Feb and early March.
Nice temps in and out of the water.
I will make my third trip on Christmas morning this year!
Cant wait...the diving is awesome and Cocoview resort is THE place for
the dedicated diver.

Best regards,
Cissy in Dallas

Kim, sounds like you've got an opinion on the matter.  Myself, I'd really
like to hear it. TIA

Since she declared Cocoview as THE place, I was simply wondering if she
any other experience on the island, with which to compare. Prefer ILR
myself.

For those that are curious, ILR = Inn of Last Resort.

Thanks Kim, I do understand your question now.  From time to time, I would
like to know what a poster is comparing against myself.

And that makes this an opportunity for me to ask.  Where else have you
stayed? CCV?  AKR? BIBR? etc?  Also, what are your reasons for preferring
Inn of Last Resort?  TIA

I can't speak for Kim, but I've been in every room type at all of the AI's
on Roatan, I've eaten meals at them, I've been diving on their boats. That
includes IoLR, BIBR, FIBR, AKR and CCV. (and a few day trip ops and defunct
ops as well)

This will be my my 26th (?) trip to Roatan, and once again I'll stay and
dive with CoCoView.

It has the serendipity of being on the South side- better sea conditions,
better reef structure, more established moored dive sites. It has the best
boats (as they were specificaly designed for the S  side... they have holes
in the bottom!) and it has the only real shore dive in Roatan. Period.

Under it's new ownership, you will prolly see an easier access for dived-out
divers to vans to the West End and main island activities. Being at CCV, you
are on your own private ten acre island... no security worries, but morfe
time consuming to go off property.

I too often muse at the statements by many that "this place was just the
best!"... and having no real basis for comparison.

Some dubious claims are easy to spot, as in "The diving in Jamaica is world
class", but some are a bit harder to sniff out. If you want to see real
goofiness, check out www.scubading.calm

February? Should be getting on to the warm and dry season. Look for whale
sharks around the full moon.

Doc.

Doc, what about around Xmas?  Chances for decent weather then?

Personally, I'm hoping for a white Christmas.

It's a toss up that time of year. I've been by there and it's cal, and I've
been by there and it's 20'. The western Carib can be fickle.
