Suggest you rent/borrow gear for a while before you sink a lot of money
into new gear.

Yes, rent gear before you decide to buy anything.
You never know what gear you may like until you try it.

Hi there,

Used the Wave for my OW up here in Ontario - worked just fine. I've
got an Oceanic Baja BC and an Alpha7 SP4 - no complaints there either.

My advice is no to pinch dollars. Talk to your local dive shop and get
the best set of gear you can afford within reason. The cheaper gear
might sound better when you swipe your Visa, but 130 feet down in the
dark and cold............

If you only dive down south, get a computer before a BC - preferably
wrist mount.
