Hi all

I am in the throes of purchasing a new BCD and have been quite taken by the
SeaQuest Pro QD.  Although there are a couple of reviews on the net, they
aren't particularly comprehensive.  I'd like some opinions from those that
have used them before.

Comfy but limited - the plastic backplate is sewn onto the BC, rather
than threaded on with webbing. It has holes drilled for twinsets, but
I've never used one with them, as it didn't appear sturdy enough. I
did however like the way the shoulder clips swivelled, allowing the
diver to breathe a little more easily when the BC is fully inflated.
Not a bad buy, if you take this into account.

Simon,

I have the Pro QD+ with Surelock weights and love it.

Very comfortable. the only potential problem is that unless you
require a large size, the integrated weight pouches are a bit small
(only hold 5Kg each) if smaller than medium-large.

I've now narrowed my choice down to the SQ Balance and the SQ Pro QD+, but
never having dived with a rear-inflate BC, I'm not sure which one to go for,
and the LDS doesn't have either for rental to try them out.  Both fit really
nicely...

Any advice?

As a matter of interest, how many people with integrated weight systems
still use a weightbelt to carry at least a little weight?

Hmm... I don't use weight integrated, but with a 5mm suit I'd have to if in
a med-lg BCD of that brand, 2 pockets holding 5 each kg make 10 kg, in a 5
mm suit I require 13.5Kg. wearing a 2-3mm suit, I wouldn't need weights in a
belt.
If I ever get one of them, I hope a large fits. it's either that or diet to
eliminate some of the blubber I carry, since fat floats. lol

Just food for thought, but how can you tell they both fit nicely if you've
never used them in water?

Find a dive store that will allow you to rent / borrow the equipment or at
least has a pool so you can test it out before buying it.

I use the Zeagle Ranger (w/ integrated weights) and I do NOT carry/wear a
weight belt.  I did however get two weight pouches to attach to my tank to
counteract the surface bouyancy issues inherent in rear inflation devices.
These are non ditchable, but if I am at depth I should be neutrally bouyant
and dropping just a few pounds should be enough to start a rapid assent (if
required).

What if there are none anywhere close to where he lives?
What if there is one, but it doesn't carry the BCs he is considering?

Ummm... take a trip somewhere where their is one and they carry them?  Or,
find a buddy who has one and will let you borrow it...

I have a Seaquest Pro QD and love it.  Lots of features, comfortable, and
durable.

I have 3 BC's and I dive the Pro QD the most.  I use my DUI for Tech
Diving and teaching, but my Seaquest goes on all my trips.

Get it.  You won't be sorry.

Have had one for 2 or 3 years, love it.  However, used only for recreational
diving - no doubles, stages, etc.

Best BC I have ever owned.
