Hello,

I have finally decided to go to Puerto Rico next month and plan to do some
diving.  Someone mentioned Parguera Divers as a possible dive shop.  Does
anyone know about them?  And also recommendation for others?  I am a new
diver and I might take some courses in addition to some fun dive.  Thanks!

I have a friend who said the diving off Culebra was good if you have
time to head over there.

Parguera divers has been a top notch operator in SW Puerto Rico for decades.
Angel Rovira, its
owner and manager personally takes you out  and  teaches.
...
Our Accomplices are diving in northwestern PR from Feb 12-18 with La Cueva
Submarina,  then move to Parguera to dive their walls Feb 19-23.   Parguera
Divers and Angel are our selected vessel and captain.  You can read accounts
from our previous trips we have made there in out home page at

Hello Wally,

I think I will dive with your group.  I will be in PT 2/18-26, and I
want to start doing some diving course with Parguera starting 2/19.
They told me they had already a group going on 2/19-23, so that must
be your group.  Should be good, I hope.

Thanks for the info, and see you there.

I can give you a first-hand recommendation about Parguera divers.  Thay are
excellent in every way.  Angel owns the operation, runs the boat and the dives,
teaches, etc.

His wife runs the dive shop, and sometimes serves as first mate (no pun
intended) on the dive boat.  They are very pleaseant, very knowledgeable, and
very professional.  There is an excellent little hotel, right next to the shop
and the pier.  I cannot remember the name, but it is probably on their website.
It is quaint, clean, reasonable (not cheap) and includes a continental
breakfast in the mornings.

Since lunch is served on the boat, you only need to go out for dinner.  The
hotel is 4 or 5 star meals at dinner, as I recall (it has been 3 or 4 years).
However, I know that Angel still owns/runs the operation, since I talked to a
friend in Puerto Rico who know him and his op, just last week.

I would not hesitate to give them my highest recommendation.  Probably more
important, so would my wife.
