IMHO, the verdict is still out on Mona as the 'Galapagos of the Carribean'.

Several more trips are required to make a definitive decision.

We had some moderate winds, seas were not really a factor but at times the
ladders were fun to play with.

I think that in some respects we didn't get to see much of Mona other than the
Northern part of the West coast due partly to the percieved weather, some folks
that were not really up to what this place could provide sea state wise so the
Captain erred on the safe side. Good for him.

We did do a single dive to Monito, the closest approx to the Galapagos due only
to the rocky topography of the dive site. Galapagos it is not. Maybe Saba'ish.
Not many fish, just the usual small Carib stuff. This was the usual for the
sites that we ventured to.

The corals were very varied and in very good shape.

Still, fish life was pretty scarce. Don't know what PR fishing standards are,
but there's not too many fish there.

No sea birds = no fish. It's a food chain thing. It's probably pretty much
fished out.

All in all it was a nice trip. Great to dive with Dan and Patti again. Also,
there was a group of 10 from Phx (:))

The Nekton Rorquail is the usual Nekton boat. Large salon and tight dive deck
for the max pax of 34 divers. Our trip was max'd w/34 divers.

One of the more 'exciting' dives was not the dive, but the pickup. It was a
'live boat dive'. In theory it should work. However with that many divers, and
the very well thought out safety procedures for pickup, the recovery was doomed
from the start. (email me and I will give my opinion in detail).

Still, I got wet, got to dive.

A day without adventure, is just that.

If you post your detailed opinion, you only have to type it once.

Bye-bye, back to my own trip report.
