Came out of surgery about a half-hour ago and I have to return to pick
her up in just a bit, after running home for quick bite. No food or
liquid for her since last night, and I fasted too out of sympathy.
Should be a permanent plate on her ankle with a spondelysing screw or
something like that. Have to go back to get screw removed in a few
weeks. Healed in about 3 months, but no diving for 6. Of course our
Cozumel trip is planned for December. Since I don't have insurance or
any easy way to cancel, I might be diving alone and let her enjoy the
pool at the hotel - damned if I'll let her ankle spoil two dive trips!

Glad things worked out OK
With the plate; when she resumes diving does she carry less weights?
All the best for her speedy recovery.

They probably use titanium. Now she'll have to watch her nitrox
intake lest she catch on fire.

Thanks!

I love OR. That's some of the most fascinating work I've done yet.
Did they just plate it or did they do what's called a medullary
nailing? The former is a fun 45 minutes to three hours, the latter is
incredibly messy.

Just make sure she understands that she'll need to be sober enough
when you get done diving to head into town with you so you can both
get drunk enough to pay double for the taxi ride back.
