Returning to Roatán after eight years: which outfit    to dive with?

Hi all:

I plan to go to Roatán in November 08 for a dive trip (from seven to
ten days). When I was last in Roatán in 2000, I dove with West End
Divers, where I also got my Advanced PADI certification.

What I am wondering is: which are the reputable dive shops in West
End?

Also, are there recommendations on good accommodation there? Is a
package deal (like what Anthony's Key offers) the way to go?

Thanks for any advice.

It really depends on what you're looking for.  Do you intend to dive
until you puke, then do a safety stop and get back in, or is this
going to be a mixed mode sort of vacation.  The fewer days of actual
diving you do the less sense a dedicated dive resort makes.

Does doing two to three dives per day count as diving "until you
puke"? That is probably what I want to do. That would mean two morning
dives plus another after lunch (or one or two night dives). Three
dives max per day, so that I can enjoy the beach, relax, read a book,
etc.

Read your book on the boat ride out.

Two dives in the AM, two in the PM and one at night is not too many in a
day.

That's a CoCo View standard day.  I know some folks who even go for a
late night dive.  Say midnight or so.  Or a sunrise, which I've never
done but have heard can be spectacular.

5, 6 or 7 dives a day is "not extreme".

Ok, thanks. What about which dive shops are preferable? Which have the
best reputation? I went with West End Divers when I was last there, in
2000. Also, is Sandy Bay (where Anthony's is) too isolated compared to
West End?
