FWIW, my wife was very close by when this happened.  She came home and
told me she was at the intersection where this store is located and saw
a police car pull up and talk to some people in a nearby parking lot.
She then saw the officer go to the door of the business, pull his gun
and then point it inside and he was pointing it at the floor.  The
traffic light turned green and she came on home.

I told her to watch the evening news.  "If it bleeds it leads".  Sure
enough, lead story at 6pm.

Imagine....a law abiding citizen who used a firearm to defend himself
against someone who was ready to do him harm.  What an intersting concept.

Typical liberal reaction.....the crime VICTIM is at fault because the
criminal died.

The robber entered the store with a loaded firearm and initiated the
sequence of events.  The robber was ready and willing to use deadly
force against the victim.  The victim responded with appropriate force
and the criminal will never threaten or harm another person again.

Have you ever had to confront an armed criminal face to face?

 Why should he aim low?

No - he knows how to aim - and quite accurate.  Never Never shoot to wound

Remember, police are told to NEVER shoot to wound.  If you can wound,
there is some less deadly tool to use.

You shoot to stop.  That requies shooting at the center of mass.  If
you take the best percentage shot, the other side will have trouble
getting a conviction, since you will have a police training officer
saying that is what his officers are trained to do.

Shot himself first and then shot the crook... He wouldn't be an Aggie by
any chance?

The news is rather slow in this but information is slowly making its way
out.  Noon TV said the there was a struggle for the weapon which was
when the store owner was wounded, then the criminal was killed.

I figured it was either something like that or he had accidentally shot
himself while drawing his weapon... Still, I wouldn't let the facts get in
the way of the potential for another Aggie joke...

TAMU, 78.

But I still try to collect the really good Aggie jokes.  My mother is
first generation American, my grandparents were from Poland.  So I
have two collection points.

Do you currently own or have you owned since '78 a maroon vehicle?

No.  I'm basically what the Corps of Cadets refers to as a two
percenter.

Although I just bought a set of maroon scrubs and am making a pair of
maroon and white scrub hats with A&M logos.

Did you go there for your bachelors or for a graduate degree?

My experience is that those who go to a particular university right out
of high school for a bachelors degree are more likely to get involved in
the school spirit stuff and rooting on the teams... I went to a
different university for my masters and as such, I really didn't care
one way or the other about their football or whatever teams... Then
again, this was also after I had come out of the Navy, so I didn't
really fall into the same classification as those kids...

OK, we'll move you up to a 3-percenter...

Nah, I'm in Austin.  Anything to piss on a Longhorn.  I'd wear an Owl
if I thought it would help.
