Hi,
Ideasforlife.tv have produced a video about an educational game
highlighting climate change and marine ecology. I'm wondering if it
might have applications for the diving world, possibly in the areas of
safety, diving anxiety, location scouting etc.
You can check the video out here: http://www.ideasforlife.tv/watch/258

They mentioned that they have 300 species of marine life growing on the
wreck and that it will take years to get it all input into the model. I
suspect once the data is amassed a great educational game company would
have a ball with it.
As far as a tool for teaching safety, pilots have been learning on
computer simulators for years so it obviously is doable and works. It's
just a matter of creating a well thought out diving simulator.
I'm imagining an electronic reg/bc setup that when given accurate diver
size and weight, can measure lung capacity and breathing rate in order to
create a rather realistic simulation. If done well, this would be a
fantastic learning experience.
