See how the hakapikadian government protects killing and violates sea law.

Att. graphic footage. Not for the faint of heart.

Seemed pretty much on the mark to me.

Hard to feel too much sympathy for people getting killed in a act that
most of the world feels is ghastly and repugnant.

I mean, you should see what Futile John has to say about all hunters
(except his family members, of course) being nutless cowards.

According to him, all those fisherman should be going after the seals
barehanded.

Think of the spectator ticket sales, who needs pelt money?

I like how the Canadian government scurrilously denies the rammings that
Watson has film of on the net (although to be fair, the ramming may well
have been justified).

Freedom of the Press and all that American bosh, don't want too many shots
of that live pup being skinned on Youtube, eh?

So you really believe that the deaths of people is less important than
the deaths of seals?  Watson lost Elizabeth May of the Green Party due
to his comments.

"Most" of the world?  How about the part of the world that views seals
as cute.  I guess you're one of them.  Cuteness wins over rational
thought.

So you're saying the sealers deserved to die and hunters are nutless

Yeah, I believe in freedom of the press, which really isn't just
Yankee bosh.  But you can't be so naive as to be unaware of
manipulation of the press.

Don't really care who posts videos of what.

Maybe, if you think clubbing and skinning live baby seals is "rational".

I believe you.  You don't know.  Let's hope that you don't swerve your big

The raccoon is a necessary part of the ecosystem.  The vehicle
carrying the family is an artificial intruder.  If it's allowed to
kill the raccoon, who knows how it might upset the delicate balance of
forest life?  Meanwhile humans propagate like rats, spreading their
filth everywhere.  Driving for something as unimportant as vacation is
an unnecessary waste of precious resources and contributes to global
warming.  I say save the raccoon.  It's not criminal to make an
incorrect split-second decision, merely an accident.  As long as
Popeye's insurance is paid up, it's merely a matter of annoying
paperwork and phone calls.  And the raccoon will be forever grateful.

No problem. I always wear my waders when I read his posts. It's a
small price to pay for the laughs.
I wish I'd realized a lot earlier how I can own him without even
posting.   8)

Sooner or later it's gonna sink in just exactly who this clown is that
he's cheering for. Perhaps one day when Watson and his own merry band
of Metoos sink an American fishing boat, or a Coast Guard cutter, all
in the name of saving the planet of course.

It's odd that all these do-gooder types jump on this particular
bandwagon while they ignore meat packing plants and fishing boats
where the treatment of the little critters is at least as gruesome and
violent as that given the seals. I suppose it's different when there's
a steak in it for you instead of oil and furs. Popeye should watch the
routine when divers gut the lobsters they catch. It's a very humane
procedure, car aerial and all. We live in a very violent world, as
evidenced by the number of wars going on today. Why should our
interaction with fish, seals etc be any less violent than that with
the other humans? Seems to me only a hypocritical prick would be
worrying about the seals and taking little interest in all the misery
being foisted on humans by other humans today in so many parts of the
world. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this is one
little issue that doesn't draw blowback on Popeye's political heroes.

some people see nothing wrong in bludgeoning to death poor baby seals,
but have a sh.t fit when shown practices at meat packing companies or
fisheries.

There are others that think hunters who got out and kill an animal
(whatever it is) used it for food and clothing is horrid.  But have no
problem sitting down to dinner consisting of the very same types of
food.  Deer or not cute - they are destructive.  I live basically in a
rural area.  68 of my farm ground is in corn or soybeans every year.
The deer in the area can wreak havoc on a large area of corn in very
short order.  We have coyotes that we can shoot year round, they help
keep the deer population down.

Many that protest these very actions see no problem with pro-choice and
late term abortions.  No one has to look far to see our liberal
legislatures attacking more gun rights/hunting areas, fees, and daily bag
limits, but doctors who perform abortions have no daily 'bag' limit'.

The same ones that fight hunting and gun rights are liberalizing the
conditions of abortion.  A 13 year-old girl can walk into an abortion
clinic and get an abortion.  A 13 year old boy can not go hunting
without gun safety and hunting training.  Which procedure nearly always
guarantees a kill?

So are you actually saying that all this concern for the seals is
misguided, or at least disproportionate, when there are more important
inhumane transgressions to be addressed?

Popeye speaks for the seals. Perhaps you should ask him why they're
more important than the things you mentioned.

Perhaps we just need a way to salvage the human fetus skins and use
those in place of baby seals.  If nothing is smoother than a baby's
bottom, a fetal bottom has to be even better.  This way everyone is
satisfied.

to be a complete hypocrite - I rather not know the details.  I know that
they are killed in the most efficient method available - which may not
(I'm sure it isn't) be very humane.  While I see the reports on the seal

My point was that there are many that are anti-hunting anti-gun but pro

Well Joe, do you take the piglets, declare them "adult" after -three-
weeks, stun then with a club, skin them alive, and throw away all the meat?

That's what Futile John gets with his "just like a slaughterhouse", and
our resulting "hypocrisy".

Political Correctness

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority and rabidly
promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the
proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Contrary to Team Futile policy, cites -do-, in fact, exist.

That is a rather poor demonstration.

I would think an adequate demonstration was not being able to understand
that "posses" was "possess".

I sense a pattern.
Has anyone else noticed how the syllable "fish" in someone's name is a
mark of idiocy on rec.scuba?

 Hey, I like Da Feeeesh!

But you're certainly right about the other two.

I had access to Fishbags' name, address, and web site, but it was given to
someone else in confidence, so due to that integrity others say I don't
have, I didn't harvest it.

But I heard he was trying to get outa Tennessee. On the plus side his
trucking job gets him a lot of Canuck time.

Actually, he probably would. In a peculiar sorta way he's highly
principled.

Some rec.scubans are kinda hot for Canadian leg. Spend a little time
in off the beaten track Tennessee bars and you'll understand why. I
guess they like teeth in their wimmenfolk, and perhaps a few pounds
less weight.

One who was too smart to put up with Watson's crap any longer.

Some folks confuse arrogance and self-interest with balls. I thought
you'd be smarter than that. I'm amazed that you of all people have
fallen for his vacuous schtick, or is just that you jump on any opp to
hump Canuck gams?

So remind me what I said. Was it in the last 4 years, and was it about
anything relevant?

I do. I always get a kick out of the machinations you go through to
sling crap.

He's particularly fond of Canuck legs. It may well be a fetish he has.

Birds of a feather. Rec.scuba is perhaps the best, and worst, thing to
happen to Popeye.

Hooters are hooters, even when they're fake, and Canuck. He's

I don't use a sig line often but I've been quoted so many times here I
thought turnabout is only fair. Popeye's nothing if not honest,
charming at times, and a major prick at others. He keeps us all off
balance. To him that's apparently a good thing.

years.

It's clearly recognized and distinctly resented.

Eric Hoffer put it more eloquently;

"It has often been said that power corrupts. But it is perhaps equally
important to realize that weakness, too, corrupts. Power corrupts the few,
while weakness corrupts the many. Hatred, malice, rudeness, intolerance, and
suspicion are the faults of weakness. The resentment of the weak does not
spring from any injustice done to them but from their sense of inadequacy
and impotence."

Not at all. You just failed to jump on his bandwagon earlier. Try to
keep up.

Hey, -I'm- not the one who denies his own writing, sometimes within the
same post it's written in.

Instead of answering this hack of yours, why don't you respond to the
original (that you seem to have missed), and I'll take it from there:

Just to clarify- It's not all Canadians I hate, it's just you and a select
few.

There's a half dozen Rec.scubans I'd die for, Dan Bracuk, Dave from
Edmonton, Bians Nadwidny and the ones that enjoy diving and keep their
cultural and political traps shut.

Just think how lucky we are to have you for neighbors when it could have
been the Belgians or the Poles, fer christ sake.

Well, that was pretty shallow, even for you.

"We'll continue to be one of the defenders of the seal hunt because it's
in our interest to see and spread the market," Okalik said.

 Well, what a shock.

I was thinking more like people in other countries, not others that
participate, or have similar campaigns.

Now that you mention it, probably.

I don't cut our "native Americans" too much slack, and I doubt I'd cut

The high-seas skirmish, which was hotly denied by federal fisheries
officials, comes on the heels of a rescue operation gone awry that cost the
lives of four seal hunters over the weekend.

But you're also correct, and I'll stand corrected on the point.

 Check -that- out:
"Hearn rejected that claim, saying the Mowat was seized legally in
Canada's "internal waters," without providing the specific location of the
seizure."

"Watson has argued that his vessel never entered Canada's 12-nautical-mile
territorial limit, but Hearn said the Fisheries Act gave him the authority
to take action beyond that line."
