I am humbled and embarrassed. I'm also not getting my DIR/GUE newsletters.

How the mighty do fall.

Fuckin A.
I been the biggest whore to the whole bunch.
An industrial "SCUBA" prostitute.
In my defense (more likely so that I can get to sleep at night), I will add
that I dug in as deep as a Rocky Mountain tick, and when the dawn finally
came, I ran like a scalded dog, and aint afraid to admit my folly.
If nothing else, I hope no one else buys into the bullshit like I did.
You were mostly right all along.
Now, go shine your brass, and shine it with my shirt.
=;-)

I met Faisal and Andrew when they came to Calgary a couple (or more) years
ago. At that time, Faisal was getting ready for the maiden voyage of the
Tala. It looks like he's done a good job.
As for monkey-diving, sure it looks like fun, but I'm confused as to how or
why having the tank 'slung', is of benefit. Anyone? Al?
I'm with Mike in another regard. My idea of an excellent dive, is a
zen-like experience. Go slow, go slow, observe my surroundings, commune
with the fishies.
I've had lots of fun with a scooter in years past. Even so, I quickly
discovered, it's not my thing when it comes to diving. But for that matter,
I'm not particularly into wrecks either.
The guys around here like to have a scooter to get out to the townsite at
Minnewanka. This makes sense to me . . for them. Why they want to go to
the townsite at Minnewanka every weekend doesn't make sense to me. :^)

My guess would be that they believe that it has less drag that way. That
would be consistent with AG's obsession with slickness.

I don't much care for scooter flying either, but it is a good tool for
getting to a distant part of a cave you want to see or to get to a part
of a deep wreck you want to look at. it is really no fun to lug around,
and I only take it when I need it for what I want to do.

If the gods had wanted us to go into caves, they would have made us blind.

I can't imagine using a scooter in a wreck. Perhaps the wrecks I've explored
just weren't big enough.

Some wrecks are big, deep and in a current. Swimming deep, especially
against a current, is dangerous (CO2) and it uses a lot of gas. You
don't use the scooter inside the wreck.

Well, if they ever put a Nimitz class carrier down as an artificial reef,
your view might change... <grin>

A class by herself...
<quote>
The USS Oriskany was the last Ticonderoga Class Carrier built. A few
years later she was designated an "Oriskany Class" Carrier after her deck
was angled, and her bow was enclosed. No other Essex or Ticonderoga Class
Carrier was ever refitted like Oriskany.
