We decided to take a scuba trip the last week of March.  So we booked
time off work.  So far, so good.  Now we need a destination.

Our first choice was the Cayman Aggressor.  They have online
reservations, so off to their website I went.  The website said space
was available on that boat for that week so I submitted a reservation
form, complete with payment.  The screen display then warned me to
wait for confirmation before booking my flights.

Good thing.  The confirmation email said that they were full.  I
thought that maybe the last spot got taken while I was filling out the
form but that was not the case.  The next day I checked the website
again and it showed space available.  I told them to fix their site
and continued to search for a destination.

I had heard good things about Cayman Diving Lodge so I checked them
out.  Closed due to hurricane damage.

Next choice, Little Cayman Beach Resort.  They had space available so
I went looking for flights with a Saturday to Saturday itinerary.
Slight problem.  All the Saturday morning puddle jumps were booked so
I would miss my connecting flight to Toronto.  So we said why not
spend an extra night.

The online booking for LCBR went smoothly.  They weren't even that
anal about forcing you to assign a password to your booking, so I
didn't.  Plus, you didn't have to pay everything at once.  You could
leave a deposit and pay the balance later.  So I did.

Now the flights.  I went to the Sears Travel site, which I've used
before, and submitted the form.  Slight problem - it wouldn't validate
my credit card.  I tried 3 times and even got Patti to proof read it.
No joy.  So went to Expedia and got our flights booked.

Next step, pay the balance of my LCBR reservation.  You can do that
online as well.  Slight problem.  You can't get access to your
reservation without a password.

Where's my travel agent?

Sounds like you have a good one.  The second go round will be easier because
the traps will be identified.  LCBR is supposed to be a great place.  Have
fun.

We've been on a few trips where we made all of the reservations
online.  I admit, there were times I was ready to pull my hair out and
I don't have that much hair left to start with.  I resorted to making
some phone calls to the numbers listed on the websites and it helped
to talk with a 'real person'.  You can also try phoning and faxing
both  (to repeat your message) if you have that option.   Also, you
might try enlisting your credit card company to help you.  I had mine
call one of the hotels and tell them not to expect payment unless they
got things fixed.   I have faith in you that you'll get it
straightened out.

I'm not actually out any money and things are pretty well straightened
out.  It's just taking more time and effort than it should.

The Aggressors did not process my credit card.  Their only crime in
fact is having their website looking at inaccurate data.

Regarding LCBR and paying the balance, that will get sorted out.  I've
already emailed them and expect an answer tomorrow.

The full flights from Little to Grand Cayman were surprising.  My
booking attempts were made a couple of weeks ago for the last week of
March.  So I'm just staying an extra day.

Well yes,  I suppose so.  But then again,  that is what we paid travel
agents to do many years ago.

But still, they need to fix that.  Many people rely on their web info
and so it needs to be accurate.

Good.  :-)

Staying an extra day is nice. Enjoy !  :-)
