Still a very sad and horrific story.
However, when I see this:
"Lighthouse Reef, the Blue Hole, water as clear as Perrier."
It makes me wonder how much more of the story is in error and
sensationalized.

You could always email Dave DeBarger and ask him. <hint>
I think some strong statements have made in the article such as :
"Water gushed in as they put on life vests and grabbed flashlights.
Which is what everyone on Wave Dancer should have been doing.
Instead, Dave DeBarger and Rick Patterson were heading to their cabins
when they encountered Captain Martin carrying a roll of duct tape.
Windows of the Aggressor were blowing out, he told them--let's tape
ours."
Everyone who was reading this NG at the time of the deaths of these
divers knows my position on this incident. I'm not surprised by the
'tone' of this report but one statement that I find surprising in this
report is this :
"Hughes and his lawyers maintain that the accident was caused by the
Aggressor, which struck Wave Dancer in the chaos of the storm, causing
it to break free. Hughes has a videotape, shot that night, that he
says confirms his version of events. However, he refused to make a
copy available to Adventure, saying it could only be viewed in his
presence or that of his lawyers."
Hughes blames the Aggressor ship ???!!! Incredible.
Regretfully, there is one statement from this article that I have said
all along. Maybe we can learn by it :
"But whatever the precise cause of the sinking, the fact remains that
if the passengers had not been on the boat, they all would be alive
today."

Absolutely. They could have looked at the forecast and not gone to Belize. Or
changed their mind once they got there and not gone on the boat.
But they made their choice and things didn't turn our so well.
Just another reason why their offspring should not become rich because of this.

That is kind of an asinine statement! If all the people in the WTC had
called in sick non of them would have been killed either, so is it their
fault? The responsibility of the ship and it's crew and passengers, is on
the captain of the ship. He is the only one that has the autonomy to gauge
weather and sea state and make the appropriate decisions regaurding the
safety of all souls on board.
Had to vent! my 2 cents!

Nobody should get rich because of their deaths either.
