Dan Bracuk - 23 Dec 2007 17:44 GMT Now that I've decided to do things the easy way, my weekend project was to put photos from previous vacations into my photobucket site. Those that are interested can see them here: http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj291/DanBracuk/
The trips were to Cozumel, Kona, Little and Grand Cayman, Mona Island, and Fiji.
Feel free to accuse me of fishing for compliments, compliment me, or say that the pictures are crap. And for George Cathcart who once wondered why someone would post an out of focus photo, it's because that's the only one I got of that type of fish.
Dan Bracuk Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do.

You're a little too close to the cuda in the one Cayman shot for my comfort but I guess he didn't bite you.

Getting as close as possible to the subject is what you want to do underwater. Less water to shoot through means sharper images. And, given how shy barracudas are, getting close to one of those is a fair to middlin accomplishment. Also lucky.

Yea. I understand that you need to be close to get a good shot. But cudas are not all that shy. People say they are. They aren't. I've been on scuba and seen some of them keep edging closer and closer to the point that most of our group were only 6 inches away and the cudas just stayed there.
Regardless, your camera skills are to be admired because you can adapt to the animal you are shooting and that is what is matters. You should be very proud of your pics. They are excellent.
It seems to me from this group, you and George Catcat and Greg Mossman are very good photographers here. Very good.

Sheesh I've had my name butchered worse ways, but this was an original. More common is Catheart, and then there's Catchcart, Catchart and worse. Catcat. I might even adopt that, or, as Dan said Cat^2 or Cat2 or 2cat.
There are three cats living in my house, so maybe it's appropriate or something. Note I said they live in my house, not that I have three cats.

We're not going to see an article like this one about you, are we?

We have a zero-growth policy on animals in the house, so I should be safe with the current three cats, one dog, three hedgehogs, two rabbits, two guinea pigs and one chinchilla. I will be the first to move out if the animal population should start to grow again. My own preference is fish, and I find it's easier just to call the National Aquarium in Baltimore mine.

That's kinda cool though. I have fish too, freshwater, and I like them but the kids really like them, especially the 2 yr old. We tried a salt water tank and that was just too darn difficult.

Your house is a freakin' miniature zoo!

News flash: One of the hedgehogs gave birth to a litter of five. We've not had good luck with hedgehog babies in the past. They don't make terribly good mothers, but so far so good with this litter. It's been about five days, and all are still alive and growing.
Anyone want a hedgehog?

Signature Does anybody here really think that taking away the guns will stop killing? Or knives, or icepicks, or chains, or ropes, or baseball bats, or poisons, or cars & trucks. People are gonna kill people, and they'll always think of a new weapon if you take away the old ones. And just because I carry a potential weapon doesn't mean I intend to commit murder, or that I may be tempted to commit murder. I often carry a big ugly knife. Lots of my friends do too. I have never heard of anyone being tempted to use the knife on anyone just because they have it with them. You gotta be in the mood to do the killing and you use what's at hand. -Jeff Cooper
