At the local grog shop A$47 for a case of either 12 longnecks or 24 stubbys.
Seems expensive but you could get  other Victorian beer cheaper and it is a
small village LGS so don't know best price. The killer will be transport and
import duty if it applies. You can do the conversion to US$.

Anyhow got a couple of nice bottles of Armetis reds, local winery young
vines but some great wines, and will take a case or 2 of my latest RFS brew
pilsner (( do one for the Brigade each year ( at 5.8%  av well above normal
but tastes crisp) )) so should be a good night. Wet so hopefully no fire
callouts and I hope everybody drives carefully so no MVAs out on the highway

Hmmm... 47 dollars Australian for 12 750ml bottles?  That sounds a bit
high...

A$47 = $40.55US... Divide by 12 = $3.38 per 750 ml bottle... I was up at
the local grocery store today and noticed that the Fosters cans in that
size were $2.29 each... I've seen them as low as $1.79 within the last
year, but these days, I seldom see them below $1.99...

Interesting that an Australian beer is cheaper here in the US than it is
in Australia...

The reason that I was using Fosters for comparison is that it is probably
your most mass marketed beer and as such, it probably should be the
cheapest... Plus, I know that it is available here whereas some of your
other brands might be difficut to find over here...

Is your Fosters brewed in Aus or under license in the US?

Price wise I think the Fosters at the LGS is expensive I haven't bought
longneck beer since the last time I needed bottles for the homebrew and I
thing the excise on our grog is quite high. Looking at the LGS Fosters was
quite expensive compared to tooheys, Victorian Bitter or Melbourne Bitter.
While Fosters is marketed as:" The Australian beer "  I am not sure it is
no. 1 in Aus but is the face of Aus beer OS unfortunately.

It's not brewed here in the US... I have seen some cans that were brewed
up in Canada though... Still, there would be import fees / tariffs
though... Shipping fees wouldn't be as bad since it doesn't cost that much
more to ship something from near the border in Canada than it does from
some of the northern states that brew beer here in the US... I suspect
that if Fosters was brewed here in the US, it would taste even worse... I
remember drinking Lowenbrau that was from Germany and then after Miller
started brewing it under license and selling it... Big difference in the
taste...

Same here in Aus don't know who brewed it though, same with san miguel
around Asia ( and the world I suppose ) very different taste depending on
where it is brewed. On the other hand growing up with "Australian" Guiness I
was very surprised the first time I tasted Irish Guiness it was not as
bitter and didn't seem to pack the punch of the Aus brew. Loved it but just
not the same

Has been/ will be supposedly in Fort Worth, Texas and somewhere in Georgia
by Millers according to my wife who read it in the Fosters Annual report. As
a shareholder I shouldn't really knock their beer.

Well, that might decrease the price of it a bit, but I suspect the quality
will also decrease... I'm not saying that the version from Canada is
*great*, but it's better than most of the mass produced beers around here
and definitely better than anything that I've tasted from Miller...

"Miller is entering a 10-year agreement with Foster's Group Limited.
Under the arrangement, brewing of the Foster's Lager and Special
Bitter brands sold in the U.S. will transfer from Molson Coors of
Canada to Miller breweries in Fort Worth, Texas, and Albany, Ga., in
November.

"The new arrangement will reduce shipping costs and allow Miller to
invest more in the brands' long-term growth, according to a statement
Monday from SABMiller Plc, Miller's corporate parent.  The Foster's
brands would continue to be distributed and marketed in the U.S.
through Foster's USA LLC, a joint venture between Miller and Foster's
Group Limited.

Oh well... There goes the neighborhood... I wonder how bad they're
going to screw up the beer...
