My mom had type 2. All I can say is do whatever you can to control the
things you have control over -- weight, food, exercise, etc. Since I don't
know you, I'm just speaking in generalities. Many people assume they can
continue to live their lives the way they want and just use insulin to make
up the difference, much like eating whatever you want and taking Lipitor to
lower your cholesterol.
Talk to your doctor and see if there is anything you can do with regard to
lifestyle to either get off the insulin, or to get better control of how
much and when you take it.
