I'm thinking about diving the Blue Hole in NM, USA.  The temperature is
about 64 degrees f all year round.  Any advice as to wetsuit thickness and
hoods?  No thermoclines and max depth is 80 ft.  My suit is only 3mm - no
hood.

Thanks.

I have some natural insulation, and I'm used to cold water, but that's
kinda cool for me, particularly if I'm gonna max out my bottom time.
The lack of a hood's no problem but the core temp's gonna burn off
pretty fast.  It's doable, but with some discomfort. Rent a jacket
when you get there and wear it over yer 3mm.

You might be ok with what you have, plus a hood and gloves.  If yer
wearing full foot fins, maybe a pair of neoprene socks.

Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do.

It's best to ask the locals, but it will depend on the air temperature and the kind
of diving ( whether there's a lot of swimming involved or just floating). 3 mm is too
light for 64 water. It's just a little warmer than Southern California water and I
use 7/5 with a hooded vest here.

If the air is warm you may get away with a hooded vest over your suit, but you'll
still get chilled.

Thanks for the comments.  I'll ask the local dive shop what most people
wear.

The water is a little cooler of Daytona, 77. I'm dawning my 5 mill. for this
weekend rather than the 3mil. long sleeve shorty.

What Jof said. Wear what you think'll be comfy. I get cold easy, not because
of my politics but because of being 'bone & bred in duh sout'.

I live at a ski resort in Colorado, and I still can't get used to the cold.
