The following link is to a draft of a report regarding the origins and
results of the recent cyanobacteria bloom on the Boynton reef system.
This report is by Ed Tichenor, a regular on Splashdown, and shows what a
real recreational diver can do with a lot of work and dedication to his
dive environment.
In the very near future, I hope, this information will be used to
actually do something to protect the reef environment.

Its gonna be tough as long as people have to have green lawns and dont give
a sh.t what they use to make their shirts white.
Most of our local fresh water lakes, which are surrounded by developments,
are so clogged with algae and plankton blooms
that the vis is inches. Swimming in the grass is like swimming through green
snot. People bitch and want the county to do
something. Forget about catching anything but small perch.

This is important stuff, and needs to be kept near the top of news
lists for all to see.
