Ahhh, Doctor Ray. Jayna and I have had dinner at Ray McAllister's house a
couple of times with a few dozen of his closest friends. It's safe to say
that he's well known in these here parts.
Ray was a professor at Florida Atlantic University when I was an
Oceanographic Engineering Major there. After three years of a 5 year
program, I switched over to the college of business to get a degree that
would actually lead to future employment. Oceanographic Engineering never
did quite measure up to expectations.

That's what PhDs are for.
OTOH, my nephew has a BS in EE, power. Those jobs aren't going off
shore. But is he happy? NOOOO. Now there is a step function increase
in earnings potential between a BS and an MS. But is that enough for
him? NOOO. He wants a PhD. The difference there is marginal.
