Danny L. Faas Danny L. Faas of San Marcos, TX, born March 3, 1947 left
us on June 7, 2007. Danny was an accomplished scuba diver. He began
diving in 1967, became an Scuba Instructor in 1972 and a PADI
Instructor in 1975. He taught more than 2000 students and logged over
6500 dives in both fresh and salt water. Danny successfully managed
several dive shops and spent a few years as a Sales Representative for
major scuba equipment companies. He went on to fulfill his dream of
owning his own dive shop, Pisces Scuba in Austin, for 12 years before
he retired. Danny is survived by his daughter Michelle Faas
Manderscheid, son-in- law Jeff, three grandchildren; Bryan, Hope, and
Kyle; his sister Judy Whitlow, one nephew, four nieces and their
families. He is also survived by an enormous family of friends and
fellow divers that he created. Danny will be remembered most for his
passion for the water, his interest in archeology, his words of wisdom
as well as his fun and loving spirit; but most of all for the size of
his heart. A celebration of Danny's life will be held in the future
for all his friends and family.

In our own native land, in defence of the freedom that is our
birthright, and which we ever enjoyed till the late violation of it --
for the protection of our property, acquired solely by the honest
industry of our fore-fathers and ourselves, against violence actually
offered, we have taken up arms. We shall lay them down when
hostilities shall cease on the part of the aggressors, and all danger
of their being renewed shall be removed, and not before.

Yup. I knew him when we were in Dallas in he worked for Winnie West
at Scuba West in Arlington. When I ran into him after we moved down
here, I mentioned that to him. "I really don't remember", he said.
"I've tried awful hard to forget that. And her".
He was a really nice guy. Ran a nice shop, one of the few indoors
pools in town. Now it's a fracking dry cleaner.

I'll second that emotion. Danny was a great guy. My last couple of
years worth of Wednesday nights in Austin were spent diving and then
"retiring" to Danny's shop for snacks, libations and fellowship. I'll
miss you, buddy!
FWIW, I've heard there will be a memorial at Windy Point on Sat, Jul
14. To anyone who attends, please raise a glass to Danny for me.
