Nope. This one is not ours, but very welcome.

There's about a million tires out there, dumped about 35 years ago.
Nothing grows on them, not even algae, and they do not attract fish or
fishermen. This was known when they were dumped - it was nothing but a
cheap waste disposal project.
My bet is that some money flowed from the waste disposal companies (the
Sopranos?) to public servants for approving this boondoggle.
About 25 years ago, the bundles began breaking up and the tires are now
scattered all over hell. The cost of retrieving them and finding them
new homes will cost millions, much more than proper disposal would have
cost 35 years ago. Note that the cost estimates do not include military
participation (the divers and their support) which is about 90% of the
cost of this debacle. My ballpark number is about $100/tire total cost.
Note, too, that the best coverage is from the Palm Beach Post. The
Broward newspaper (Sun-Sentinel) doesn't like to advertise public
officials' mistakes.
Another example of trashing the ocean because it's the "cheap" alternative.

'fraid not. SWMBO has decided that the family will be taking vacation
together this year and will be going west to places not previously
visited. There are some other issues going on that affect this
decision but Lee can fill you in on those when he gets there. The wife
may turn me loose around lobster season if I behave myself and follow
directions for once.
My apologies to you and yours because I was looking forward to finally
meeting you and getting together with the rest of the gang.
