Due to the recent port closings I decided to schedule my second (and
last) dive day on a larger boat to preclude loosing a day if the port
were closed to smaller boats.
I am not a patron of larger/cattle boats so this left me with little
to go on. However, Michelle at Liquid Blue gave me two options
despite loosing my business for the day (another reason why I will
recommend and use Liquid Blue on future trips). She mentioned that
Blue Bubble had a new boat as Dive Cozumel. Another person mentioned
that Dive Cozumel made beach stops so I went with them. Walked about
a block and took care of pre-dive arrangements and was to board at the
Aldora pier at 9 AM.
Their were two groups on board, perhaps 12 total, and the boat was not
crowded. I actually enjoyed the experience of a larger boat when you
are not sitting shoulder to shoulder.
The other group went first...then an instructor and student (OK, three
groups), finally the owner, his technical dive student, myself and one
other diver. The pre-dive brief was fine and I was able to do what I
wanted which is the way I like to dive. I had obtained a larger tank
that enable me to do a slightly more aggressive dive than usual and do
it safely.
Between dive snacks included fruit, cheese, crackers, etc and water.
I never saw soft drinks but did not ask about them either.
My only "negative" was that the boat did not stop at a beach club
between dives. I asked the owner why and he gave what may be a
realistic answer but was not sufficient for me since neither reason
applied to me. I need my beach time between dives!
Other than that, I was very pleased with the dive service, the boat
and owner willingness to allow diver freedom.
Another potential selling point of this dive shop for some people is
that they do technical diving. I believe that the owner and his
student were using trimix. Might be an option if I ever decide to do
extended deep diving.

Because I usually stay at a hotel not on a beach. Beach time between
dives gives me the opportunity to relax with my feet in warm sand (a
good thing) and not on a boat (bad thing to me).

Aldora used to stop between dives at Playa Sol beach club.

Obviously Aldora received a kickback from Playa del Sol for bringing divers
to their high-priced eatery. You'd think a dive op that charges so much
would provide snacks.

And the new Playa Sol seems to cater to the cruise ship crowd. Music
is too loud. Not my preferred beach club.

I dove off Yellow Rose when Aldora's boat broke down. Very nice for a
cattleboat, but the captain made a terrible drop.

Why? Was that student taking a trimix course during the dive, and
the intructor was Rolando?

Do you know how much EXTRA you have to pay for an 80 cuft tank of
"beginner's trimix"? :-)

I believe that both answers are YES.

NO. I did glance at the website and some of the "technical" diving
certs are in the multiple hundreds of dollars. Not sure if that is
high for Coz. As I have never taken a nitrox course, a trimix course
may never happen either.

I am planning to dive in March with Dresseldivers (Iberostar Cozumel). Are

If you are staying at Iberostar, it is a good idea to go with their
shop (which may or may not be Dressel Divers, I don't know). A freind
of mine stayed there and mentioned that some of the non-Iberostar dive
boats had issues getting access to the dock to pick up and drop off
their passengers.

Dressel is the dive op at the Iberostar. They are definitely a "cattle
boat" operation but we dove with them 2 years ago (18 dives 2 weeks) and
had a great time. There may be 20 divers on the boat but it's big and
small groups are dropped separately.
Other ops have no problem picking up or dropping off at the Iberostar
dock so choose whichever dive op you prefer.

Stayed at Iberostar and dove with Dressel Divers two years ago. Staff was
very good. Very convenient. The boat is big (cattle operation?) but they
drop you off in small groups with lots of seperation. Only once were we
really crowded, at the wreck C-53 (?) near San Migel. The Dressel boat and
about eight others set the divers in at the same time.
Save some money and book your diving before you arrive. Check the Dressel
web site. Don't want to do that, book a package when you arrive and pay cash
(travellers cheques).
