I haven't been around this group much recently, and I may not be
around it much in
the future, ether. As of the end of May, 1007, I have accepted
"Enahnced Early
Retirement" (EERP) from HP. Given my circumstances the "enhancement"
--
14 months salary added to my retiremenet -- was something I could not
walk
away from.
I hope I can find some full or part time work dealy with the OpenVMS
operating
system for the nexe 4-5 years -- that's how long my wife has to work
to be fully
vested in her company's retirement benefits. SOooo..
If you know of any jobs in the Palm Beach/Broward area of South
Florida, please
let me know if I might be a good fit. Or pass my name along. I have
25+ years
working as a programmer, analyst and software engineer on OpenVMS.
My personal email is Charles Hammond at Net Zero dot com
*** There is no space between my first and last names nor between NET
and ZERO.
Thanks for any help.
And, just so there is some SCUBA contact, one of the good things about
this is
that I will be free to go divine pretty much any time. I LIKE that!

I wish someone would offer me an enhancement to get me to retire. I'd be
gone in a heartbeat. As it is, I'm stuck for the next 2.5 years if I want
the full benefit of the geo pay that was moved into my salary for retirement
calculation purposes the beginning of this year. It didn't make a bit of
difference to my salary while working, but it makes quite a difference in
the retirement calculation.
I keep telling my boss that a buyout would work. She keeps telling me how
happy the agency is with my work. Damn.
Good luck Charlie.

What, you've been nominated for sainthood?

Well, given that he's over thousand years old (retired 1007), the
miracle of life might qualify him straight to sainthood.

What's sick is that his 1000-year-plus age only qualified him for
early retirement at HP. Those tech firms really work their employees,
but if divinity=lucrative stock options, I suppose it's worth it in
the end.

Good luck, Charlie. I used to have a set of tags that said VAX WIZ,
that's how far back I go.
