And you are welcome to contribute some SCUBA related text as well.

Danlw - 02 May 2007 01:31 GMT >> Or should this be rec.Carl.buthole > > Killfile Nisarel and the group improves instantly. I agree--just like the solution to bad TV is to turn it off. 'Course it was kinda fun counting how many times Nisarel had a convenient excuse for not meeting someone from the group, then tried to make them look like the pussy. Come to think of it, it is kinda funny everyone's bitch would call anybody a pussy. Killfile--it will work for you too!

Barkeep!
A round for the new guy.

A yogurt smoothie for the big quiet f.cker.
Man.
You gotta get up here for a visit.
The crystal gripping hippies up here have the yogurt, tofu, vegetarian thing down to a friggin art.

I am just very light with alcohol. Tequila I haven't had since I was 18. Spent half a night in recumbent prayer at the tall porcelain altar, purging my body is a manner that would make Linda Blair jealous.

Just in time for Pops to get here.

Tequila I can get along with, rum of bourbon makes me evil.

Arnold & I are both not too terribly far away, out in northern NJ and there's some NY'ers too
BTW, any ideea what George Horn been up to? Maybe we can find someplace other than Queens to do a Seahorse dive get-together sometime this summer.
pesceuomo, welcome aboard. The OT stuff is mostly because the regulars have run out of scuba discussions, so please feel free to tell us what Long Island diving is like.

Hugh, what do you know about the "blue hole" near Winslow Twp?

After a couple of quick Googles, it looks to me to be along the lines of an aquafer link to the surface in the typical Pine Barrons area - - a spring. This would account for the clear/blue water (versus tannic) and its reported cold temperatures. Overall, I'd not expect there to be much of anything worth seeing, as the region is typically quite sandy.
Since you're near Philly, try asking some of the old-timers on the Philly diving scene might now something: check out the Diving Bell and/or Aqua Hut Plus (if they're still around after owner/operator Helen Link died). I'd bet that Ray Jones ...if he's still around... would know something...let me know if you find him and what you find out.

I have a buddy who used to teach there, and I have a call in to him. I also live 5 minutes from Dudas, and Cindy is friendly with them, so I'll ask her to stop in and ask (they don't care much for me). I'll let you know what I find out.

pesceuomo - 09 May 2007 13:30 GMT I dive the wrecks out of Freeport NY. We dive every Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Then continue into the fall and winter as the weather allows. Dutch Springs for New Years has also become a tradition. The group I dive with have been together for a long time.
As a side note I just returned from Key Largo. Dove the Spiegel Grove and the Benwood as well as a shallow reef. Took my wife snorkeling and had an overall great time. Just another day in paradise!
How about you!

It's a form of hero worship from a cowering-in-the-dark schizophrenic.
Carl's own posts will be all the explanation you need, but the above post wasn't from Scott.
Nisarael is like the toenail fungus of Usenet.
He's well entrenched and has longevity on his side, but, basically, he's just harmless and unsightly.

The 'sorry piece of trash' is Scott Koplin.
Scotty exposed himself as that "sorry piece of trash" when he screwed up and posted using my name with his Whidbey.com account.
We know you have to protect your yappy little METOO! buddy, Fatboy and you're reduced to lying about it.
Scotty will demonstrate it by posting a follow-up on this thread. He can't control himself.

The diving here can vary from 50 feet of vis to cant see your hand at the end of your arm. Winter is the best time for fewer people and better vis. We have the largest octopi in the world, and very large ling cod, wolf eels, etc.
Because it is a glacial fjord, the terrain is steep and there are tons of dive sites that you can walk to. Water averages about 48 degrees, but I have seen it at 36 when the snow melt runoff happens in the spring.

Magilla - 02 May 2007 03:37 GMT > Or should this be rec.Carl.buthole You ever go to take your gear off, and stop to rinse your booties to get the mud, sand & slime from them?
That's carl's function here. He's the doormat, what doesn't rub off he licks off.
