http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070415/ap_on_re_eu/germany_army_video_7

The Defense Ministry said the video was shot in July 2006 at barracks in the
northern town of Rendsburg and that the army has been aware of it since
January.

"We are currently investigating the incident," said Florian Naggies, a
spokesman for the army and Defense Ministry.

He did not identify the instructor or the soldier.

The clip shows an instructor and a soldier in camouflage uniforms in a
forest. The instructor tells the soldier, "You are in the Bronx. A black van
is stopping in front of you. Three African-Americans are getting out and
they are insulting your mother in the worst ways. ... Act."

The soldier fires his machine gun several times and yells an obscenity
several times in English. The instructor then tells the soldier to curse
even louder.

FYI Germany and France are two different, independent countries and
the movie is about German Army, what is even included in the link
provided by you.
Not too much schooling? Reading problems?

I assumed he was referring to Germany going back to its belligerent,
militaristic ways of the past.  As such, it won't be long until France
is invaded and conquered as it was in the past.

You made that leap of logic based on one video of one German military

Our military doesn't do enough of that sort of thing.  Hell, I'd make
Anabar Province a free fire zone.  And, I wouldn't mind if Germany
invaded France.

According to Soldier of Fortune, there are no employment opportunities
in Germany for the invasion of France.  Nor are there any employment
opportunities in Iraq that allow for indiscriminate liquidation of
indigenous personnel.

You're in Hawaii, aren't you?  You aren't a real American then.

Interesting. On the basis of isolated incident (BTW showing extreme
stupidity of the instructor) you are making general assumption,
especially regarding future invasion of France. Ridiculous.
FYI there were no single remark about France, but the target of choice

It depends on exactly which definition you choose to go with, but it's generally credited as a Greek
invention.  Some people argue that the first real satire was Roman.  YMMV.

The word origin for satire - 1500-1600 French from Latin satura satira

The Elizabethan (i.e. 16th century English) writers did not know about
the real origin of the word satire, and stressed only the Greek-
influenced derivative, so that they believed it to relate to the half-
animal, half-human satyr, that lived in the wild and was full of grim.
They related it only to the notoriously rude, harse and sharp satyr
play. That way, authors attempting satire developed an even more
biting pamphlet than the (well-known) Roman original satire was. The
discussion ended when French Huguenot Isaac Casaubon discovered in
1605 that satire was a Roman term, ending the misunderstanding. Since
then it referred again to the "amendment of vices" (Dryden).

http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/96winter/record.htm

The United States could not have prevented the forcible reunification
of Vietnam under communist auspices at a morally, materially, and
strategically acceptable price

Richard Nixon, who blamed Congress for Saigon's fall, was nonetheless
sympathetic:

Congress was in part the prisoner of events. The leaders of the
United States in the crucial years of the early and mid-1960s failed
to come up with a strategy that would produce victory. Instead, they
simply poured in more and more US troops and materiel into South
Vietnam. . . . They misled the public by insisting we were winning the
war and thereby prepared the war for defeatism and demagoguery later
on. The American people could not be expected to continue indefinitely
to support a war in which they were told victory was around the
corner, but which required greater and greater effort without any
obvious signs of improvement.[49]

just like in Iraq - no lessons learned?

Because our civilian leaders were not willing to go to the extremes
necessary to win the war...

Of course, one could definitely argue that our current civilian
leadership has also not been willing to go to the extremes necessary
for a quick victory in this war either... Of course, *my* plan would
have worked, but nobody up there fuckin' listens to *me*...

Uhmm...you're aware of the 3 elections that've already taken place, right?
Looks like they're off to a decent start.
And that's 3 more than they would've had under Saddam.

sorry the US has how many soldiers in Iraq trying to keep the country
together?

As I said before this war started the best that could happen after Saddam
was toppled was a loose Federation of 3 states. Unfortunately more likely it
will descend into civil war with a fundamentalist regime/s ending up in
control and further destabilisation of the ME and further threats to the
west

they had lots of elections under Saddam it's just that they weren't very
fair.

it is going to happen

It took 8 years of fighting for the US to win free of Britian. Then another
few years after that to get a handle on creating a representative republic.

These things take time.

interesting choice of example that was a local population trying to get rid

Yep - a key difference being that it was freedom-loving colonists trying to
throw off the yoke of an oppressive power.
In Iraq, rebels seeking to impose their own oppressive regime in place of a
democratic government.
You do see that, don't you?

Ask the Shi'a what they thought of being ruled by the Sunni minority :-)

Question is if anybody in Iraq really wants western style democracy
and if there is something like Iraqi nation.

Hence the problem. If you look at the history and dynamics of the "country"
imposing Western style democracy is unlikely to work.

Obviously we were foolish to try to wean them from f.cking camels...
We figured that if we cleaned up their women a bit and gave 'em a
bath, they might be willing to give it a try... Unfortunately, even
after all that effort, the camels were still cuter and smelled
better...

It won't happen if we don't try.

And it may not happen this particular time because of people like you and
kula.

Once the threat is more tangible to you, and -especially- kula, it won't
be such a task.

Maybe we lost the battle of Vietnam, due primarily to the kulas and their

A father was accidentally fatally shot by his 6-year-old son
during an attempt at target practice that went tragically
wrong on Saturday evening.

Robert had his arms wrapped around his 6-year-old son, Tyler,
and together they were holding a .45 caliber handgun at a
spot about three miles away from the camping spot. His son
pulled the trigger and sent off the first round, said
Melissa. The gun recoiled toward the two, and Tyler was
unable to control the gun - he accidentally pulled the
trigger a second time, as the gun was swinging backward
toward his father's head, according to sheriff's reports.
