They complain about the proliferation of rays and skates like it's a bad thing, but I for one would prefer to watch rays and skates on a dive than stare at a boring scallop. Bay scallops are nasty, anyway. As long as sea scallops aren't endangered, who gives a whit?

Aren't those the toupees that injuns take? Maybe they should be endangered. Too many bald people around nowadays if you ask me.

There's no other way should could have lived with you all these years. One day, I'll get to meet your family. I'm looking forward to it. When your daughter finishes her certification, bring your daughter and her mother with you on one of your trips.

If Grace is still on the Irvine contract around the time for the next Florida dive trip, I might drive down there with Kaitlyn and Grace can fly in on the weekends... When I spoke with Curtis the other night, he mentioned something about possibly some of us getting together around June or July, if I remember correctly...

Yep, Dan Bracuk and a couple of relatively new Rec.Scuba members are going to be in the Keys about the same time. Curtis has expressed interest as have Rick Simms and I. Rick and I haven't firmed up any plans one way or the other, but we're thinking on it. As I recall, everyone's planning relatively shallow, pretty reef, pretty fish dives which, unless I remember incorrectly, are Dan's preference. Who knows, I may even get Jayna in the water again.

I do believe we're going to get the house in Lauderdale again.

And you'll notice that I didn't capitalize "damn"... A "Damn Yankee" is different than a "damn Yankee"... The former come south and don't return, whereas the latter just come down to thaw out their frozen 'nads periodically... <grin>

The old BMW bikes had a bit of kickstand issue... Either they weren't long enough or whatever, but a hot asphalt pavement would allow them to lean over enough to fall over...
Personally, I always figured that was what you used your empty beer cans for...
Back in 70s, I remember coming back home from a club on my bike... Thought I put the kickstand down, but it didn't catch... I lean over to get off the bike and the bike falls over with my leg on the hot muffler... Melted a nice hole in my pants... I quickly determined that the smell that I was experiencing was my own flesh burning... Obviously, I wasn't too drunk to ride a bike, but I was too drunk to park one...

I wish I could blame it on the beer but I wasn't drinking. Like the old saying goes, "There's two kinds of riders. Those that have laid a bike down and those that are going to."

It's one thing to have to lay it down to avoid a wreck, because you came into a curve too fast, or just because you hit a bit of slippery oil on top of water starting out from an intersection... On the other hand, dropping it because you forget to put the kickstand down is just plain embarrassing... Especially if you can't blame it on the alcohol!

Nope. The owners moved into the house and have it up for sale. They are asking $850,000.00 for it. Needless to say we aren't renting it this year.

KV - 01 Apr 2007 18:21 GMT Did you even read the results of the study? This isn't just about rays and bay scallops.

That's why top-posting is as highly regarded here as shark finning.
What was the article about, then? Surely no such study would ever have been done were it not for the fiscal impact of the loss of bay scallops to overabundant skates and rays.
Lee Bell - 02 Apr 2007 00:41 GMT Speak for yourself. There are times for top posting and times when it's a king sized pain in the rear. This is one of those times, but I can't decide which one.

You'd think so, but I'm sure you know that there have been tons of studies about ecological issues that nobody gave a rat's a.s about. As a matter of fact, I think there was at least one about rat's a.ses.
Misguided tree huggers will study anything, raise the alarm about anything they don't understand (just about everything) and, of course, the government always funds it.
