Went to BTS 2007 this morning. Quite crowded even at 10:30am.
Sadly, did not see any fellow rec.scubans although there was probably no way to identify any
unless I'd already known them (we really need new T-Shirts or something!!) :-) Art G - I called
you on your cell and left a message but no luck.
Typical Expo fare. Everyone was well represented including all the local dive shops as well as
the major equipment dealers and tourist agencies (Sam of Sam's tours was there as were some
others I recognized). I did the floor in about 1.5 hours.
Maybe next year I'll register for some of the seminars. They even opened a 2nd session of the one
"Digital Photography" seminar that was sold out. And I guess it's also nice to go and see people
you may not get to see so often. But it's a bit of a drive to spend all day there, and I'm not sure I'd
want to go every year unless there were some decent seminars to attend.

It was pretty crowded at 8:30, when they started taking money for
admission.

Sorry. We were there early. Tina wanted to attend a 9AM seminar, which
was just OK. One quick pass around the hall, and her ankle started to
bother her, so we left pretty early (she broke it in November, and she's
just been off crutches for a few weeks now). I never even turned on my
phone.

That would be a workshop, I think. They charge (above the regular
admission) for workshops, the things they call seminars are included in
admission.
We like the show for the socializing, which we could not do that much of
this time. Maybe next year ...

No sweat. There's always Dutch..... :-)

I can understand that..... tore my Achilles Tendon in early 2001 and was
sidelined for almost 2 months after surgery. Ugggghh!

Yes, workshop. They were hard to find (almost a "hole in the wall"), or in this case,
the partition!

Yep. Let's see what workshops they offer next year.

We got back from a quick trip to Fl this afternoon, so we didn't make it
to BTS. Like I said in email, I'll catch up with you at Dutch in the
spring.
The FL diving was excellent. We got in some really nice long dives, and
went to the Lafayette County Rotary Club "Beast Feast" for dinner on
Friday: all-you-can-eat venison, elk, quail, chicken and pork barbecue
and all the fixin's. This was an outdoor event, in a place that looks
like it's used for livestock auctions.
We brought back a truckload of tanks that need hydro and their
valves/manifolds rebuilt, plus some other gear I had down there that I
want up here for the summer.

No problem. I may be there as early as mid April taking a Dry Suit cert, and then
in May for Adv. Nitrox/Deco course.

Mmmmmmmm. Reminds me of a restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya called the
"Carnivore"..... a "vegan's" worst nightmare. All different kinds of exotic
African meats, cooked to perfection. Things like Ostrich, Topi, stuff like
that.... Nothing endangered though.....
