Had a lovely time.  Weather was decent though diving was blown out on my
last day. Bummer.  Of course, the next day, when I had to leave weather and
conditions were sublime.  Sigh.

Only got 3 bug bites, must be some kind of record.

Saw lots of spotted eagle rays (13 on one dive), some turtles and for my
first time, large beautiful but harmless jelly's.  The reef is looking much
more healthy these days, now that there's been a chance to recover from past
hurricane damage.  Still, there's a paucity of fish . .

No shortage of nurse sharks though, beautiful creatures that they are.

Ran into a couple of remoras that were intent on attaching themselves to a
couple of the guys . .these were about 2-3 times the size of the one that
wanted Greg.  There is no mask that will not leak when you see this action.

And best of all, no skin bends.  Guess that weight loss did the trick. ;^)

Yeah, you know my opinions on Belizean wind.  You're lucky you got wet
at all.

Maybe they don't like bent skin.

Which makes me wonder whether it messes up mosquitoes to suck the
blood of divers with lots of residual nitrogen, and since it's the CO2
that we "off gas" that attracts the buggers, IIRC, too bad there's no
way to off gas some sort of bug repellent along with the nitrogen,
maybe by adding something to the gas we breathe?  If anyone here wants
to spray some DEET into their tank before filling it and volunteer for
my controlled experiment, I'm offering a free beer (Joe?)

Paucities suck.  I hope you had fun with the jellies.  Did you poke
them to confirm that they were harmless?

Eagle rays have been avoiding me on my last few trips.  I hope they'll
be out in Bonaire in two weeks.

I think they're rather ugly, personally, but YMMV.  Do you think
toadfish are beautiful too?

Those other guys may have bigger remoras, but I know how to use mine.

Or maybe it was the banana.  Were your profiles more conservative than
usual?  Did you finally take a nitrox class?

I'm shedding a few pounds myself, even though I'm really just big-
boned, due in part to my decision to finally finish the tech class I
started a couple years ago, but to Do It Right this time - i.e. in
warm water.  I'm heading to Dive Tech on Grand Cayman in June for
Advanced Nitrox/Deco Procedures, unless anyone here can convince me I
should go the IANTD route instead since Dive Tech offers both agencies.

We have a solution up here in Canada. It's called Black label. Drink
it all night and the next day you can offgas like a sumbitch. Bugs,
snarky dogs, nasty women. Nothing will get near you let alone take a
bite out of you.

Maybe she only saw the miniature paucities, not the standards?

Don't fish for compliments. It's unseemly.

Oh, you're talking about that newfangled technique whereby the mohel
uses a remora instead of a Mogen clamp for the bris?

It's actually a very old technique.  You remember that part in the
Bible when Jesus teaches the people how to fish, but leaves out
details of the exact technique he used?  Later on they learned to
substitute a worm (and a knife for the other), but they never caught
such big fish again.
