A few years ago I read about an English home that was built over an
ancient well. Divers wanted to look inside the well, so, they made
their entry through a hole cut through the living room floor.
Didn't find much (an axe I think) but, it qualifies as an A-1 odd
dive.

I have made a few stange dives  - once with a diver dressed up like
Mikey Mouse, inside the Epcot Centre, another would be the Current Cut
in the Bahamas (at certain times of the day you get blown through a
small channel pushed by the tide, and then a few hours later, back the
other way) and once at the Toronto CNE (think cheesey State Fair) in
front of bored audience.  Other bizarre dives - a flooded Minute Man
tube in Texas, the mechanical shark inside the Edmonton Mall,  and
well ... any other bizarrre dives that rec.scuba people have made or
heard about?

 Mt Storm Lake West Virginia.

This is a cooling lake for a power plant.  We went there in the dead of
winter.  Air temp was about 20-25 deg F.  Wind was blowing about
25-30mph. Heavy snow was hitting my car sideways and at times the wind
would actually rock the car. I did the dive in a 3mm wetsuit and was
comfortable (in the water).  With the water temperature so warm (low
70's) and the air temperature so cold, steam was rolling off the surface
of the water making it look like it was boiling.  Looked like something
out of a Sci Fi movie.

I defintely paid the price getting out of the water going to the car.

Underwater pumpkin carving is always weird.

The Glory Hole in Skookumchuck Narrows.

Recovering a 9 year old kid that fell off the boat and rattled between the
boat and dock (while mom was busy on the cell phone) and drowned.

Exploring Lake Cushman;

It is man made, and there was a lodge and small town there before they
flooded it, but all the structures were burned by the owners before the
water got to them. Foundations and signs of fire are still there, but no
structures. We heard stories from LSD driven divers claiming to have been in
the lodge, and that there are still shot glasses on the bar, pans on the
kitchen stoves, etc.

As if.

Nothing but foundations left.

However, as the level of the lake rose, the powers that be decided to top
thousands of old growth trees in order to make the lake safe for the
recreational users that would be sure to follow in years to come, so in some
place you dive there and at about 120 feet you are presented with a forest
that is all flattened off at the top at the same level (they topped the
timber from boats), and below that it is jumbled like Lincoln Logs.

Weird to be kneeling on the top of a 24" diameter Doug Fir at 120 ffw, with
another 100 ffw below you to the bottom.

*Nothing* moving or alive. No fish, no crawdads, no plants, nothing.
Sterile. You can wipe the top of the log and see the tool marks from the
chainsaw.

They weren't bored when I did it.  Weren't you doing any tricks?

One of the years I did that dive, (it's in a display tank) we hooked
up with the energy drink vendor across the aisle and demonstrated
underwater drinking, with his drink.

Yes I also got to drink orange drink underwater.  The day I was
demonstrating the tank was in the Better Living building. Outside was
Toronto's first bungy ride.  They fired you into the air and you
bounced around a bit before coming back to earth. When i was in the
dive tank, word got out that a woman and her t-shirt had become
seperated ... reason enough for me to loose most of my audience.
