Wazee Lake, near Black River Falls, Wisconsin on New Years Day.
Come join us for some open water dive fun while celebrating the new year.
Plan to arrive by 1 PM for fun activities in the water and out. Visibility
is excellent this time of year so if you're taking pictures it should be
great. Don't dive? There is camping and bonfire pits available. The
extended forecast indicates rain so you may want to bring a jacket. Come to
where the divers are friendly and you won't be bothered with crowds. Come
one, come all, it's a New Year's Day celebration!
Happy New Year all.

Thanks for the invitation, but rumor has it, it's cold up thataway. We're
having a cold snap of our own. Temperatures all the way down to 72 this
afternoon. Brrrrr.

I'll be there with a group from St. Croix Scuba. We're supposed to be
there by 1000 which puzzles the sh.t out of me why anyone would get up
so damned early, drive 135 miles one way to freeze their a.s off. I
don't mind the cold but why make things worse by not being able to get
enough sleep. It's not like we are going to do four f.cking dives
that day and run out of f.cking daylight. 10 f.cking AM, what is up
with that?

Thanks for the invite. Can't make it. But did dive Dutch Springs New
Years Eve. It's the "Last Dive of the Year" thing at Dutch. There were
many people there that day. Sun was out, air temp in the upper 40's.
Several of us from NY and Conn. drove there and met up. Dove the Pumping
Station. Vis wasn't as good as last year though. Around 30'-50' in some
spots, others, where silt kicked up less.
The water was warmer than last year. This year, 47degrees. Last year,
44. Must be the global warming.
So... did 42mins in 47degree water, then off to Crackerbarrel for lunch
and good company.
Another great day of diving and good friends.

Did you see any fish?

If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure.

Dan.. I believe that they stock the quarry. I saw a few trout swimming
around. But looking at the place and lack of vegetation, well, I can't
image what they feed on or where they spawn. There is no fishing
allowed. There might be more fish at the other spots, but where we were
at, I saw 4 or 5. They looked well fed and they basically had no fear of us.
