A man at the centre of a standoff on a First Nation north of Regina Monday
is dead following an exchange of gunfire with the RCMP.
According to RCMP Sgt. Brad Kaeding, 44-year-old Delbert Kenneth Pelletier
was a resident of the Muskowekwan First Nation near Punnichy.
The incident started at about 6:30 a.m. when a woman made a 911 call about a
man with a rifle.
A tactical team surrounded a house on the reserve as negotiators tried to
talk the man into giving himself up.
The incident ended in Pelletier's death at about 2 p.m. after he came out of
the house with a rifle and exchanged fire with the Mounties.
According to the RCMP, an outside police agency will be asked to oversee the
investigation as a result of police being involved in the death.

Not if, but -when- I die, half the people around here
will party because they're my friends, and they know
I would demand that. The other half will party as well,
glad to be rid of me, and I'll see them in hell.

Do you want to congratulate them? No "friendly fire"? No "collateral
damage"?
