Cool.

How much?

$1000 for about 30 laps, full tilt.  Cunnigham took it out and beat my
fastest lap first lap out.

But I beat him in my F500.  It all comes down to knowing the car.

Does the price include insurance for damages to vehicle?

Fun. Sure would have liked to hear the shifts. What kind of cert do you
have to show to buy a ride?

SCCA license works, although they prefer to see open wheel experience.
And it helps to be buds with them.

The car is a current Formula Atlantic, figure something in the
neighborhood of $120K before it gets on the transporter.  Another $60K
for the transporter and about $1000 a pop for tires.  A good FA team
will run about $500K for a season.

My car is about $8K, the transporter is a trailer and a 1992 Burb.
Figure $400 for tires, good for about 4-6 weekends.  The only problem
is that the burb gets 12 mpg towing and I'm paying $8/gal for race
fuel.

I thought you once said you were running FF. That doesn't sound like
enough $$.

F500.  Which currently runs about as fast as an FF on most tracks and
much faster than the FVs.

Years ago (like the late 60's) we had a class that I believe was called
F4 running motorcycle engines on a lightweight open wheel chassis
mounted on Mini wheels. They looked like fun. I never got to drive one.
We were running a Cooper Deeker at the time. I was the pit crew. The
driver moved from there to Formula Ford and I went into motocross and
snowmobiles. He became the Canadian FF champion. I became a better
mechanic.

That reminds me. An acquaintance of mine worked for one of the FF
chassis builders in England for a summer years ago when he was still in
university. He got to race a Lola that summer. Great student
employment, huh?
