Probably know as much as you do.  Reports were sketchy. His name was
Robert Cupick and he was reportedly 60 yrs old.  Death was one of two
snorkel/dive incidents on the lake.  Here is what I clipped from the
press

Man dies scuba diving in Kempenfelt Bay

JOHNSON'S BEACH, Ontario (31 Aug 2006) -- A man drowned after a scuba
diving accident in Kempenfelt Bay. According to Barrie Police, the
tragedy may have resulted from the diver's unfamiliarity with both the
dive site and the scuba diving equipment he was using.
The victim was pulled ashore at Johnson's Beach by his dive buddy who
called for help and initiated CPR.
The Barrie Police and Georgian Ambulance paramedics responded to the
emergency and arrived at the scene of the accident at about 3:30pm. The
victim was rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced
dead.

incident Wednesday afternoon at Barries Johnson Beach. Dead is Robert
Cupick, 60, of Coldwater.
A cause of death has not been determined. A post-mortem examination was

equipment malfunction or a medical issue.
Barrie police say Cupick wasnt familiar with the area where he was
diving, and may have encountered difficulty with new equipment.

Two men are dead, two more are presumed drowned and a woman was badly
injured in five separate water accidents in cottage country over the
holiday weekend.
Provincial police said two men drowned and two men are missing and
presumed drowned.
Bradley Park, 27, of Smithville died Sunday after a paddleboat he was
on capsized on Georgian Bay. He and his girlfriend were out on the
water during a small-craft weather warning when the paddleboat took on
water and flipped.
The woman swam to shore to get help while her boyfriend, who was
apparently not a swimmer, stayed on the boat.
Emergency crews located the man's body several hours after the
accident.
A body was also recovered from a lake near Bala after a man disappeared
in the water on Monday afternoon.
Diving crews are still searching for two missing men. A 72-year-old man
vanished Monday evening after he went swimming near a home in
Skerryvore, in the Parry Sound area.
A man in his 20s is also missing after he fell out of his boat Monday
afternoon in waters in the Bass Lake Provincial Park near Orillia.
A 28-year-old Barrie woman was injured when a personal watercraft hit
her while she was snorkelling in Lake Simcoe on Sunday afternoon.
Barrie police said her injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.
