It began long ago. I have a vivid memory of riding a subway train and
seeing someone that looked Arabic who seemed to me to be acting strangely.
Something about the way he was looking around, his posture, whatever, made
me feel uncomfortable riding in the same subway car with him. I got off at
the next stop and boarded the next train coming through.
Was I a bit paranoid? Perhaps. Did I profile? Definitely. Did I do
anything wrong by choosing not to continue on the same car with him? I
don't think so. My a.s, my choice.

You made a decision to act.
Which is more than most can do.

We're gonna see more stuff like this. I find that I look at each of my
middle eastern customers a bit more closely than those of other races. I
doubt very strongly that they would choose my place of business to
destroy, but nonetheless, they get looked at more closely. It's a shame,
but that is the way it is. I don't discriminate. But I do look more
closely.
This may be the first of many more incidences like this.

Personally, I see the future safety of the travelling public, more in our
own hands than that of the Government Agencies tasked to do it. Particularly
while we (the government) are still not allowed to profile, people will, and
are starting to, take it upon themselves to do so. I think this was proven 4
(?) years ago when so many here agreed what we'd do if we were ever on an
aircraft where someone tried to take the flight. There are still more of us,
at least in our own countries, than there are of them. We just need to
believe we are more capable, be it through numbers or otherwise.
