Scottish knife control

The Scots recently held a "knife amnesty" where all sorts of blades
were turned in.  There is a proposal in the parliment to strictly
regulate the sale and possesion of bladed instruments (knives, swords,
cleavers, etc).  It seems that gangs have taken to using knives and
the vast majority of all homocides last year were knife related.

I guess banning guns wasn't enough.

Yep, banning butter knives are next... Obviously a country of sheep...
Of course, that sort of statement makes the Aussies think of Scotland
as a sex vacation destination...

Nawh, it's the knife sharpener's / whetstone's fault...

Hmm....have they tried banning gangs, or making homicide illegal?

Now there's a thought - make homicide illegal!  Let;s go one step
further - lets make all crime illegal

Never get it past the ACLU.

Good idea, Joe - all Scotland needed was some "new world thinking" and their
problems are solved!

They need a psychological screening program for prospective
gangbangers. If they demonstrate violent or antisocial tendencies they
should be rejected. Those who show a bent for golf or hockey will be
moved to the top of the approved list as they will of necessity have
higher than average social interaction skills.

"psychological screening program for prospective gangbangers"

Such as it is, it's one of the most coherent things you've said yet.

Unfortunately in Britain it is not the knife or even the person who carries
the knife that is at fault.
The fault lies with person who deliberately sets out to be stabbed and
throws themselves onto knives that are being carried for "personal
protection".
These suicidal people should they survive being stabbed should be locked up.

Dont tell T Blair and his politically correct gang.

In America, it isn't the knife, it isn't the knife wielder, and it isn't the
recipient of the knife's cutting edge.  It's the manufacturer of the knife
cuz they've got the deepest pockets.

Association.

The U.S. has had knife control since 1958 (maybe earlier).

I can still buy a K-Bar.  Those would be banned under the proposed
regulations.

How're they going to dance their traditional hopscotch over swords now
if they can't buy swords?

I see a lot of kitset packages being sold in the near future... a
length of steel, a fancy hitl, a few grinder discs and instruction
booklets.

They aren't swords (yet) and won't be illegal. but after a bit of work
hobbyists will be able to jump over them :D
