Ade finally got to dive her custom 1/4" plate and OxyCheq wing today, and it
was bliss. Now she knows why we call them poodle jackets.

We saw a flourishing reef, three mating pairs of wolf eels, got buzzed by a
ling cod that was about 4 feet long (in fact he/she/it followed us around
the entire dive).

We ended up in what we call the nursery, which is a shallow area filled with
sand, rocks and grass where the young congregate to grow and hide from
predators. There was also a krill hatch that resembled flying through clouds
of mosquitos.

The vis was layered, with crystal to 20 feet, 5 feet or less to 45 feet, and
then 40 feet below 45, where the thermocline snapped right off.

Best part is, she has never dove air, and if I have my way, never will.

Based on the time of year and the ling buzzing you, I would guess that
those were baby ling cod that had just hatched and not krill.  The males
sit and protect the egg mass until hatching time.

I remember diving out at the Annapolis dump one time as a noob (only
been diving about a year at that time) and seeing a mass of goo that I
didn't recognize.  Sitting just above the goo was a fairly large ling.
As we got closer, it came off the ledge and started buzzing us until it
left.  Just as I turned back towards the good, it exploded into what
must have been half a million little tiny perfectly shaped transparent
ling.  I dropped my reg in open mouthed amazement!

I haven't seen that since and I have been looking for the last 25 years.

Could very well be.

Congrats to Ade. Glad you both had a good time.

She, like all noobs, is having a little trouble with the diving, not
swimming, thing.

It's hard for someone who swims as much as she does to stop using her hands
for propulsion, but she is coming right along.

I told her next dive, I was going to handcuff her hands to her chest d
rings.

Look like tyrannosaurus rex arms...

Do you know the difference between kinky sex and exotic sex?  In exotic sex,
you use a chicken feather.  In kinky sex you use the whole chicken.

Well for Gawds sake, you are making her dive wet in an ice bath.  What
do you expect?

I'm sure she is.

Let her dive with me.  Now, before she kills you.

She's not cold.

Way faster than most.

All you have to do is get over here.

How many invites would you like?

I've broken the #3 rule of diving and let life and family and work
interfere with my diving.  WHen I do get back over there, I will expect
you to beat me up thoroughly for it.

Now, back to dissertation edits......
