I am looking for a new dry suit and just wanted some advice. I have been
told that DUI are the mutts nuts but have also been told by a friend that he
hates them. Are they the suit you either love or hate? What sort of money
should I expect to spend on a new one? I have heard mention the CF200. Is
it a good one?

Where are you going to dive? The place and type of diving make a big
difference.

It will mainly be UK diving with the occasional holiday overseas to see what
the warmer bits are like.

If I were in your shoes, I would likely look for a UK manufacturer so that
when the suit needs maintenance such as seals, valves, etc you wont be stuck
with overseas shipping issues.

I should have seen the cross post to the UK group. you will be better
off with local advice, as I'm not familiar with the diving there.
When I have to use a drysuit, I use a DUI TLS350. I've had and tried
others, and that is the one I like, but my diving is nothing like yours
(freshwater caves with unlimited vis that you can drive a lorry through
(notice how nicely I'm trying to relate to the foreigner)). I have
friends who have the CF suit, and it is nice and tough for wreck
diving, but it weighs alot and takes a long time to dry. My GF has the
one with the TLS top and CF bottom, and has had problems with the
bottom becoming porous and leaking.
In warm water, I prefer a wetsuit. A 1 piece 3mm suit is about $100
here (I don't know how many quids that is).
Has anyone heard from Fiona in Scotland? She would be the person to
ask.
I'm sure some crude 'merican will be along to enquire about your
present attire ;-)

One must be careful with names like "Allison"... Especially since the
OP is from the UK... Over the years, the name has been used by both
genders...

The CF200 is tough as nails and an excellent suit. Unlike tri-lam shell
suits, it stretches a bit, which can make for a nice fit.
The downside to the CF200 is that it is heavy and takes forever to dry.
If you shore dive in areas with lots of rocks and shell fish and you
have strong legs, it can be a good choice.
Personally, I prefer the lighter suits. I have a CLX450 and I find that
a bit heavy. I would trade it for a CLS350 in a heartbeat, but I don't
tend to be clambering over rocks, either above or below water.

A friend in NY shredded a TLS350 on the wrecks there crawling around
looking for trinkets and lobsters. She switched to a CF200 and has been
happy, but found it to be not so good for cave diving in FL.

If you want a good dry suit expect to spend around a grand - unless you
want a DUI, in which case expect to spend about two grand for an
equivalent suit.

Funnily enough I was discussing the merits of a DUI suit a couple of
days ago with one of my pals. He bought it when they were being sold a
lot cheaper as the then franchise drove down the price (before they got
sacked by DUI).
His comment was that it was a good suit, but there are others as good
for half the price.
I have an otter skin btw and otter recently replaced the cuff seals in 3
days :-))
Cheers

With all fairness... never had a problem with my DUI in 5+ years. My
wife had an Otter which as a made to measure took three attempts and
the final attempt was still a poor performance.
I agree DUI is overpriced, but I've had very poor service from Otter
(via my wife).
Don't know where I would jump next for a suit. Altough I would still
look at DUI (from my experience) I would have to look at O3 as a
extremly good alternative.
Just my thoughs and experiences. Enjoy and dive safe.
