He don't like it when you don't go to an instructor and learn there.
If you don't he might show up at your house!

Nawh, he's just trying to keep you from drowning yourself... Although
there are probably quite a few of us who taught ourselves how to dive
without any assistance back in the old days, I highly suspect that we
all knew how to swim at the time and were very comfortable in the
water before we attempted it... Attempting to teach oneself how to
swim in an unsupervised manner is not exactly survival oriented... But
that's OK, Darwin will protect you...

Ok I just don't like when people reply after every line, in kind of a
snippy rude way. I'd never try learning alone. I'm always in there
with somebody. My father's a great swimmer and can float and
everything. He started as a child as I did also. The only difference
being he succeeded and I didn't. I really think it's genetic because
my mother's afraid of being in 2 ft of water, lol. I already succeeded
floating on my back after not believeing I could do it, so now I
believe I can float other ways, and am interested in learning those
ways.

Responding inline to the points that you make is considered good style
on USENET... Snipping out the irrelevent text is also considered good
style...

Are they someone who can rescue you if you screw up?  If all they can
do is call 911, the odds are, you're screwed...

As long as it's not the "dead man's float", eh?

Maybe if you're not being an a.s about it, but re-read how he
responded. Would you like someone to say "you figure incorrectly".
He's an a.shole. He may be your friend that's why it doesn't seem like
anything to you, but it's annoying when someone answers like a twat
like that, and it's rude.

Yes I have people who have won medals for rescuing people from pools
so don't worry about that. Go bust someone else's balls.

You should stop worrying about me, and start worrying about being a
Nazi swimmer.

If he was a Nazi swimmer, why should HE worry about it?

Yeah, you right!
