Why weren't they wearing dry suits if they were going that deep?

Tropical waters... Depending upon the current flows, it might not be
that cold down there...

It must not have been that cold anyway.  He quit complaining when he
got to 380 feet.

I suspect that it's difficult to complain very loudly when your 'nads
have withdrawn so far that you have two additional lumps in your
throat...

I laugh my a.s off every time I replay that video! What a scream!

Then I read the little blurb that accompanied the video and it was even
funnier. I'd be using worse language if I went from 85 to 50 degree
water in just swimsuit and t-shirt.

The cover explanation follows.

A Christmas Chill: An Encounter with Hypothermia-Induced Tourette
Syndrome (PyleDiver)

In search of new species of fishes, a pair of marine biologists descend
down a deep coral-reef drop-off in the central Pacific, using high-tech
closed-circuit rebreathers and breathing a mixture containing mostly
helium. As they pass a depth of 320 feet on the way down, they discover
what it feels like to penetrate a thermocline from the balmy 85-degree
equatorial sea-surface temperatures, to the 50-degree deep upwelled
water below. The diver carrying the camera, who was wearng only a
t-shirt and swimsuit under his rebreather gear, had no idea that every
helium-affected word he was saying was being picked up by the camera's
microphone.

They were sure plowing up the bottom and crashing into the fauna.

The video was posted by Rich Pyle, who I believe (but am not 100%
certain) is the guy with the camera

Ahhh, that does make it more interesting.  Another person from whom I
learned things I adapted to my own diving.

Were they wearing gloves? Wearing gloves can cause that to occur.

Is the snow always on the mountains there, or does it melt in the summer
months?

It melts when all the dickheads from out of town come to f.ck the place up,
er plug the roads and cause wrecks, er, I mean, spend money.

Out here, we don't consider them mountains unless they 1.) have snow on
them all summer,  2.) erupt occasionally,  or both.

And yes, you can hear them go by.

You can also hear the bottom sounding sonar.
