Got an add for a Dive Mag called "Undercurrents" published
by Ben Davison.  You are also supposed to get a travel guide called
"Travelin Diver's Chapbook".  Did GIS but did not get much....

Claim is they accept no advertising and therefore are free to tell the truth
about equipment and dive operators etc.

Anyone ever read the mag and have an opinion?

Thanks, Dan

Are you sure it isn't a drive magazine?

That is what "GIS" is and didn't get much info of value.
Thanks for the reply. Dan

It is what you put into it.  Your answer is there, I promise you.  And it's
"Google", not GIS.

Sigh. Lawyers. :) "GIS"=Google Info Search for quite a few people.  Plus, I
asked for people who had read it here in rec.scuba. Small detail? Did a
search on both the mag and publisher.Have not checked all the links, but no
solid info, good or bad.

Thanks, Dan

I've read it and enjoy it. The "Chap Book" is huge and contains alot of
reviews of various resorts and dive operations. The thing I enjoyed most was
the collection of diving fatality / accident reports. The equipment reviews
were pretty good and I don't remember any "brand loyalty", but it was a few
years ago that I signed up. It's really cheap, and I think there was some
sort of trial offer. Check it out, you won't lose much if you don't like it.

I got a subscription as a present last year.  I might renew it.  There were
a few things I liked and the Chapbook was one of them.

Yeah. I subscribed to it a couple of years ago. It's was a newsletter
then. The "Chap Book" was interesting. Just remember that the
information in the book is subjective to the various author's
experiences. So take it with a grain of salt.

Agree with SpringDiver's comments.  It's been around for a while--I had some
VERY OLD Chapbooks, that get outdated quickly, due to turnovers.  All in
all, a pretty good read, but haven't subscribed for about 6 years or so.
