Diving : Port Douglas or Cairns

HI,

I'm travelling to Cairns & Post Douglas
for Open Water diving.

Which is the better location to base my dives?
Or should I just go from both?

I just got back, but have been diving out of both ports. Go out of Cairns,
spend some time on a live aboard, and enjoy! Plan to spend a couple of days
doing the sight seeing thing in Cairns. There's lots to do!
