I'd like to do the Doria before she's totally rubble.
Is tri mix instruction pretty much a free for all, or is there an
agency that's better than the others? I've got my nitrox from TDI and
that seemed pretty fast and loose, but I'd also been diving with the
instructor for about 5 years as his DM.
Yeah, I've got a pretty good instructor lined up, but just curious
about agencies.

I didn't climb to the top of the
food chain to become a vegetartian.

Agencies just issue C cards, stay focused on the instructor, make sure
the instructor does dives at or beyond the level they are teaching
outside of teaching dives.
TDI has recently redone their trimix manuals, a big improvement over the
old ones.
IANTD is having some ownership issues moving back from Canada to Fl.
But I guess what is the reason you are asking the question, is it
standards based or are you looking for something in particular in the class.

If you're gonna choose by agency, GUE.

Then you've already decided. :-)

Send him a list of GUE's 10 best North Atlantic deep wreck
instructors.

Ask him what deco gases and what kind of deco tanks he's going to put
you in. For any dive in the ocean, especially out at the Andrea Doria,
the correct answer is EAN50 and O2 in aluminum 40's marked with MOD in
great big numbers and both slung on the left side. Last time I looked,
that was not to TDI or IANTD standards, but there are instructors who
will teach it this way.

Good question to ask. Thanks.

Most everything in diving is fast and loose, if you know where to go. You
want to take things seriously? There's a control freak out there to oblige
you. You just need to search to find him or her.

Spoken like an easy shallow reef tourist diver who should stay the f.ck
away from tech diving.

Curtis, oh curtis, it's time to wake up now.
