I've been to cozumel and other western carribean places several times to
dive, but this time i'm going on a cruise with some family members, so
it's not a dive trip per se. there is a stopover in Nassau, Bahamas from
10am to midnight. I'd like to do a two-tank dive there with my son. This
will be in mid-may. Can anyone recommend an operator there? It would be
great to do a night dive, my son has never experienced that. I know we
have to be careful about the times, they might not be exact. Thanks.

The best diving you can experience in Nassau, IMHO, is shark dives with
Stuart Cove's operation. It is safe and a great experience, a very
controlled shallow dive (30-40' max) and they single hand feeds. Videos are
available of your dive(s) afterward. I enjoyed diving with them quite a bit
but the general (non-shark) reef dives off Nassau are just so-so. Link

Good luck!

I would say this is biggest Nassau attraction...sharks and few wrecks.
I dove with Nassau Scuba Center, very safe, professional and friendly staff

Stuart Cove also does regular, non-shark-feed trips, mornings and afternoons.

We dove with them for a couple of days recently, and it is an excellent
operation.

I believe the web site is www.stuartcove.com.

Go with what the cruise ship arranges. That way, you don't have to
wate a lot of time and effort duplicating effort that the cruise ship
people have already expended.
