Hey,

My GF and me are heading to Vegas and figger we would dodge over to
Lake Mead for a dive.

What's the best dive there limited to car access for a Open Water diver
with 4 dives (GF) and a rescue diver (100+ dives) . Boat might be an
option if it's cheap, really worth it.

Other question. My GF is in the middle of getting her cert dives, she
did 2 this weekend wet, in Newfoundland (she's awesome!) and needs two
more. We just had a blizzard so I don't know if she'll get in her last
2 before we go. So, does anyone know a PADI instructor/shop in the area
that could do her last dive(s) at Lake Mead?

Thanks for any input

That sounds good but I'm not sure if the seal on my camera housing will
hold....

Anything else?

Also, how much exposure suit do Lake Meadians generally wear? I'm
thinking a 3 mil shorty would be good?  With hood, gloves, boots....

"During the summer months the first distinct thermocline usually occurs near
the 30 foot to 40 foot depth. From surface level to 30 feet in depth, the
temperature may range from 70° to 82° Fahrenheit, and this layer supports
the majority of algae growth. The second distinct thermocline usually is
found near the 60 foot depth. Between 30 feet and 60 feet the temperature
ranges from 70° to 60° F with less algae present due to cooler water. Below
60' in depth, the water temperature is 60° to 52° F. At this depth the water
is usually clear but much darker in summer than in winter due to the
dissipation of the light caused by the presence of algae in the warmer water
above. During the winter there is usually no thermocline, with the entire
water column in the low 50 degrees. "

So just cut straight through the scientific explanations and just say
"teeshirt dive"!   For 3 of us, anyways.......

That's what I need to find, anecdotal accounts of what's comfortable
there. I googled the samer info as Grego there but I'm a Newfie diver,
my water is cold, 31°F last time I went. I can do 2 60ft dives wet
with some wuss water in those temps but it's not the funnest.

I don't know how much exposure suit I would need in 60° to 52° F.
Charts for that are usually on crack from my point of view so I'm just
wondering if a 3mil shorty with 5 mil hood, gloves, boots will be
comfortable or if I'll freeze my a.s off....
